I recently bought this car and the guy was using just a piggyback system, A'pexi SAFC, and I want to switch it out and do it right. With a hondata system, but not sure of what ecu to put in it, or if i even have to switch it out. I've read I should just put in the p05.. but I dont really get why.

you can use just about any obd1 honda ecu.
p75 is the best bet-- because you likely already have this ecu in your car. just needs to be chipped/socketed for the hondata.

a vtec ecu will work also, you just need to set vtec activation at like 10k rpms so it never happens in the map.
p05/p28/p30/ will also work.
