I need to renew my passport soon.

good ol' facebook knows this, of course, and threw me this ad:

I have never heard of it.

is it legit? anyone use it before? Seems a bit shady to send your docs to anywhere but the actual passport office.

I just did mine a few months ago.
Set up an appointment at the post office and it takes legitimately less than 15 minutes in and out with them doing the picture and everything. Then the passport shows up a few weeks later depending on whether you rush it or not.
It's easy and painless enough that it doesn't seem worth involving a third party.

i'm with E. check in with the local post office to see if you need an appointment. i've done it twice now. renewals are easier.

Yeah, I realize it's pretty simple...... I've had my passport for a while, up for my 10 year renewal.

I just keep getting these ads and tons of replies and likes. it all seems so sketchy to me.

How quickly do you need to renew it? You can get it done in 1 day in person if you go to a dept of state location. I had to do that earlier this year for a very last minute work trip.

Gov+ is a ripoff. You have to give them the same info you would need anyway if you did it yourself.

I have 6 months left on it, so no real rush. It just seems like if i send it in, something is going to happen where i need it, like to get in to a building (fed contractor on occasion) or proof for a job or whatever and i will have to sit on it for a month while it's in the mail.

FYI, quite a few countries won't let you in if you only have 6 months left on your passport validity. Kinda sucks to find this out at border control AFTER a 14 hour flight.

All to make sure that you don't stay past the validity of your passport through a general 6 month visa.
