I am looking at getting a new welder but can't really decide who I would like to purchase from, I am looking to do some mods to my go kart and buggy, I have spoken with some of the other big companies but they are a little too expensive for me at the time, if anyone has an idea or suggestion on where to look please be sure to let me know

i've got a 110 lincoln hd3200 seems to handle well just about everything we have tossed at it.

I have the exact same unit. Gets the job done, and will be more than enough for anything you'll be welding on a kart. I have argon and solid wire for most everything, and some flux core for the thicker stuff when the voltage starts to become an issue.
maybe for what you do 
but for those of us who use a welder once maybe twice every few months, its perfect.

Bah I still wouldn't buy one. It is very limiting. I decent TIG will get you so much farther:

for $1200. When I bought my Lincoln SP135 110v MIG I paid $750...so for an extra $500, you can weld stainless AND aluminum over 1/4" thick...And if you are building a serious import, welding stainless and aluminum would be VERY helpful.

Thanks for the math lesson. I suppose that no matter what you buy, for a "few hundred dollars more", you could have something nicer.
As for not needing to weld stainless or aluminum, you'd be surprised how often you would do it if you had the capability. You'd start looking at building your own stainless headers and piping and building aluminum accessories and turbo piping on your own
yeah i guess so. at my current pace of modification, i could have my own turbo header built in about 5 years.

How heavy duty will these tools need to be?
Snap-On and other high dollar tools are way super nice. But their price makes me cringe. I will not use them enough to justify its great ability or comfort.
My dad has a miller 110 and it works for a variety of needs. Would I weld a suspension up with it? Or weld up a dumped truck like under8d? No.......but I would do most things with it.

Thanks to all of you for the suggestions but I have decided to purchase form a company named longevity for a tig welder,they had awesome customer service and a great warranty on there units for very affordable prices...the name of the unit I got is a tigweld 200dx I will post some pics of my welds as soon as I figure out how to so you guys can see how it looks so be sure to let me know what you think

Good luck...I don't trust a 200 amp TIG welder that only costs $650.
maybe he got it used? its going for 1100+ on amazon, new.
