sooooo out with the old tranny with bad bearings and in with a much lower mileage one from evoIT. replaced the axle seals. works great!
put on the split intake manifold too. much easier working the intake and coolant ports seperately. much much easier.
pulled the ACT2600 clutch and disc off of my old mirage's 2nd popped 1.5L motor since froggie decided he wasnt going to use it. he's a pussy and prefers the stock plate. the disc was toast but mine was still mint after 50K hard miles. popped the plate on and its so nice. (mad props to DIYMIRAGE for the replacement low mileage clutch and pressure plate i installed 50K miles ago
)
i totally torqued everything down with an impact gun this time. usually i just breaker bar all the big bolts, but i decided to since i had one at my disposal. front end feels much more solid.
kenny and i welded the busted to shit RRM mount up, and my trans mount solid. next in a few days i'll do the timing belt mount.
results: shifts like butter. i really missed the hard actuation of the ACT clutch. i'll have much better launches now, especially with the 225 wide slicks. throttle response is better, since i had some sort of weird hesitation/jerking due to the busted poly mount. still gotta work on the TPS, its not completely correct (or the BISS?)
i broke the transistor/resistor that sits on the distributor. anyone know where i can get a replacement for that? i may hit up the junkyard at some point next weekend if i have time. the little one wire cylinder looking thingie. i think i may need to replace the thermostat, or there isnt enough coolant in the system yet. i pegged H for a few miles before i realized it, and as soon as i turned on the heat it went back to normal.
