first things first
I AM NOT GOING TO TURBO THE B18 IN THE 'TEG
i dont have enough knowledge to tune it much less maintain it.

I AM NOT BUILDING A B20 V-TEC
same as above

i have chosen two possible routes

1. V-Tec head on my existing block(my block has 142K)
+what parts do i need
+how long will it take

2. B20 non V-tec
+what parts do i need
+how long will it take

build a b20vtec... lol just kidding.

if i were you i would get a b16 head and work it and slap it on the ls block, after you put new rods/pistons in it...

how much $$ do you have to work with?
 
Option 1 is better, will make more power, and cost you about the same amount of money.

You'll need (along with some other misc stuff):

ARP bolts/studs (GSR studs for block, plus whichever rod bolts you need for your rods)
Nice big pistons, OEM Honda stuff is good and cheap:
- B16A 'pr3' pistons for 11.33:1 compression
- JDM B16A 'p30' pistons for 11.54:1 compression
- B16B 'pct' CTR pistons for 11.97:1 compression
Nice strong rods (Eagle is very good and not too expensive)
New rings (get them with the pistons)

Hone it, drill the head for your block's dowel pins, plug the head's oil feed hole, then run the oil line from your block... then drop in the pistons/rods/rings, replace any gaskets you need, replace anything else on the engine that you need to swap out because of your high miles- then break it in and run it!

If you're going to pull the engine to swap out the pistons/rods/rings (easier), then you might want to try unloading the LS transmission for a GSR or Type-R with shorter ratios.

If you leave the block in the car to swap out all the parts, this could take you a weekend to do.. if you're good.
