piston pin driver

doing a piston swap and can't find no where where i can get the driver set for cheap. anything around 100 is nice. does anyone know the website/store/etc where i can get this item. i've tried snap-on but with no luck. maybe someone else might know a few more tricks as to what goes into the search. thanks!

It is called a mallat. you have to heat the pistons up so that they expand, and put the pins in and let the piston cool. I was able to do this all by hand as the piston expanded enough to do this, however I am told that is a rare experience. Personally if you have not done this before I would have a machine shop do it for you, or have someone who has done a honda pistons help you out.

you mean rod right? the wrist pins go in fine into the piston.

there's no need to heat up the piston. like i said the piston pin will glide on it. why would you need to heat up the piston. it's the rod that the pins have to be pressed into. so.....anyone have any idea where to get the driver kit.

and you need a press to get them in

see....i have a 12000lbs (6ton press). i can't find the damn driver set for the wrist/piston pin.

got to a machine shop and have them trun you one itll cost 60 buucks at most for 1 hr labour

i'm a serious do-it-yourselfer. so i don't really want to go to the shop unless there's absolutely no other option.

no have the machine shop make you a set of pin drivers!
i made my own on the lath didn't take very long

oh yeah *ding. yeah but the piston base, head, spring, shaft and other special tools for driving the wrist pin in...i'll need those too. seems like i'll have to buy a kit or something.

you're going to need the following parts from honda:

Piston Pin Driver Head- #07973-PE00320
Piston Pin Driver Shaft- #07973-PE00310
Pilot Collar- #07LAF-PR30100
Piston Pin Base Insert- #07GAF-PH60300
Piston Base Head- #07HAF-PL20102
Piston Base- #07973-6570500

Those are the part numbers honda lists, i'm sure they're not all necessary, but even so, it's gonna be a bit more expensive to DIY then it would be to just take it to a shop- your call

yeah, but this won't be my only build. if it's a reasonable amount like around 100 or so for the set then i'll get it but if it's rediculously expensive then forget it.
