Chinese restaurants don't make Chinese food.

Hard to get past but its true.

It's like going into Taco Bell and asking for a tamale.

I know they know how. One thing I miss about the bay area is that you can get authentic food at so many places. Its not like Ga where everything is 'mericanised.

The place my wife and I used to go in North Dallas was definitely one of the few chinese places that did make chinese food. Sad thing was it was a two menu kind of place and that second menu was half korean half chinese (Korean Husband, Chinese Wife owned the restaurant).

Pretty neat though, you could order pretty much anything you wanted and they'd bring it to you. On the menu or not. I miss places like that since I've come down to San Antonio. We had to break our one rule about chinese after we moved. 'If you see white people in the restaurant, turn around and leave'. There are very few chinese places in 30 miles of where we live with actual chinese (or koreans) working there. Makes like almost not worth living without good chinese.
