What exactly does a "poor man's 5 lug conversion" entail? Is that an actual term that people are using for a cheaper method of converting to 5 lug that someone recently discovered, or do you just mean that you don't have much money to spend here?
There is no real performance gain with doing that, itll cost more for wheels and brakes, and like said before the 4 lug is lighter. 5 lug is really only for the hardcore JDM fan that has every other JDM bling part on his car.
