OK...there is a very good chance that we can get a drifting event set up in CT...Thru the good guys at DGTrials.com, they have informed me that they have the full insurance policy for any venue they can set up...Drifting and Autocross. They are still on a limited budget, but if the want for this type of a venue is good in the CT area, then they will cover it, and endorse it. The only problem is the location.....NONE has been found at this time.
Spread the word around, post this thread around the web centering on the CT area.....Somebody has to know an owner of a decent sized parking lot that would like to pocket a little cash from the event, in return for the multiple tire marks that will be randomly left for the aircraft pilots to figuare out what it says from the air. The parking lot must be big enough to arrange it in a manner to where the particapating drifters can have a safe boundry area incase something goes wrong with their car, and it must be able to have a safe area for spectators, event staff, and pit crews...
We are not looking for a huge one time deal where the particapants have to pay the expencive entrance fee's, in order to make the location affordable to the DGTA owners, but something that is affordable to the common college student who wants to have a little fun with their cars...say around $20-30 per car...and there will be about 50-70 cars particapating...and the event would more than likey be a bi-monthly event on the week-ends....if the location is affordable...
They have contacted Lime Rock, and that is just a little bit out of the range for the affordability...so try to keep it with a commercial parking lot, a school parking lot, a mall parking lot...or what ever...just as long as tire mark's are not a problem, and it is flat enough with very few obsticals to hit...for a safe drift.
The main concern here is safety....safety for the drivers and safety for the spectators and event staff. The normal rules for all motorsports events applies to this, and to all of the DGTA events....
All cars are tech'ed, and all safety provisions are inspected, along with the drivers legal ability to drive a car. This type of an event is to allow the normal driver to have fun with their car...in the safest environment possible...and to keep the the fun in the event......and off the street's.
If you have a location in mind, or know of a place that qualifies for this type of an event, and know the owners of the parking lot, and wish to help set this event up in the CT area...then please contact.... matt.p@dgtrials.com
Thank you.
