I use regular Castrol GTX 10w30 in my engine and transmission.

not such a good idea scince oil comes with detergent biult into it and does not have the additives that come in gear oil

I do recommend Honda MTF over anything else, but if you don't have that, 10w30 would work perfectly fine. I would put regular engine oil in my tranny before I put gear oil in it. All that said, I don't think it's that big of a difference as long as you change it often.

Honda MTF. Although my Si and GS-R now both have one quart of GM Synchromesh in their trannies with the balance being Honda MTF.

MTF unless you have an aftermarket LSD, Like a KAAZ or Quaffle, then you NEED Synchromesh. That stuff is the SHIT! It made my tranny run silky smooth...until it all ran out on the pavement from my cracked tranny casing :(

I have a Quaife LSD and you don't NEED to run that syncromesh stuff. Whatever Honda recommends will be fine, and that is Honda MTF or 10w30 motor oil. You can pretty much use whatever you want, but I personally wouldn't want to run syncromesh or gear oil.

Um...it says in the manual to only use motor oil as a temporary and to imidiatly replace with MTF. Ok, you don't have to, but I love it.
