why is high compression like 10:1 so bad for boost when diesels use high compression ratios like 20:1 and still have a turbo on them with out problems?
Its because a diesel engine doesnt have spark plugs to ignite the fuel. Its the compression alone that causes the fuel to combust. That much comp on a gasoline engine will cause detonation and eventually destroy it.
diesel fuel is also diffrent than gas you can run HC and boos there was a pro FWD car runing 15.2:1 on about 30lbs of boost but im mot saying whoos car or who tuned it but i say engine being assembled my self
