I would like to know if it would be worth the trouble to swap a
'90 crx si 5th gear to>>>>>>>>>> my 5th gear zc tranZZZ?

Sounds like you want faster acceleration. Put the Si final drive in your ZC tranny while you are at it and you will notice a big difference. BTW a Si or DX 5th is the same and is shorter than your ZC 5th.
