The post junk found in a junkyard thats better than average junkyard junk thread

the pick and pull i go to has a bunch of younger guys that work there so everything that is worth anything they take and sell on the side. sucks.

thats how it is here too ...

There were missile boxes and casings that I am still kicking myself for not picking up. It was just the shells, no guts at all, and needed some parts to look complete, but damn, how cool would it be to have a missile hanging from the shop roof??

Seriously cool. I'd steal pieces from work if they'd let me, but they'd just be fragments... black charcoal looking fragments.

I could be ridiculous and make a list, but its not really fair as I worked at a yard for 7 years..

but...I'll put up some of the better stuff

And a link to all my classified threads just on this site...90% of it was stuff from the yard (including Chris' "EVO5" :) ) :

Scored big today!!

Ok, not that big, but still.. SCORE!

Heater core for the CRX. About 7 inches square, 1.5 inches thick. Looks new. Mount a 6 inch fan with a toggle switch and I have heat/defrost in the rex with less than a pound of weight. Or.. I have an intercooler for a weed eater... Score!

The reason for the trip.. I needed an air hose reel, and I wanted something cool. This thing is something to the tune of 15x12 and only weighs about 15 pounds.

Drilled holes around the outer edge and screwed it to the wall. I have bigger plans involving a crank for later, but for now, the wheel is holding 150' of air hose off of the shop floor. SCORE!

And.. Just because it was there, and it was dirt cheap because it was "dirty metal"...

A mongoose bicycle! Complete, has one flat tire, other tire is one of those tubeless solid foam never go flat thingamagiggers. Crank sprocket is bent a little but I can sort that out easily. Hours of cheap entertainment. Oh, also grabbed another seat for it from a different bike. It has a grandma cruiser seat on it right now.

All for $19.91.

pretty awesome trip! i would have mounted the wheel with a crank but still very inventive.

Just have to wait until I find a spindle with a decent bearing in it. There weren't any. too bad, I tossed 2 sets of DX spindles last year. Ah well.

Bike is back in action!

Surgery!

DONE!!

Couple of squeezes with the sheet metal press, and the crank sprocket is good as new. Crank itself was also bent, but I straightened it. New tube in the back. Everything is lubed up and working 100% I have a $11.50 mongoose to fuck around on! ($7 purchase price +$4.50 tube)(I remember when mongooses were $450+ bikes.. They are $99 at wal-mart now! ha!!)

Funny background.. Beagle ass, a rex with a knock, and bathroom remodel trash.. I have to throw it away little bits at a time, or I'll be reported for remodeling without a permit. They can kiss my ass.

Oh, and a totaled sail boat that I refuse to throw away.

You cant just haul it off to a dump? The dump's around here never ask where the shit came from you're throwing away.. lol I have done many things around the house without a permit.. shhh.. :)

I picked up a virgin P28 and some misc. interior parts for the EF from the all Honda yard near me last year for $30

Yesterday went to a you pull, found a four door CB7 accord that had a full set of Eibach Ground Control adjustable coil overs. The front struts are KYB struts, and the back are KYB too (I think) but are adjustable aswell.

Paid 15.00 Per. The car had cut rotors all the way around but they appeared as if they were dragged around with a forklift, so we didn't want to take them and find out they were bent and useless.

yep there is a yard not far from me that has trucks that are armor looking with misles on them....probably old hollywood stuff from movies. but man i want some of them just to put in front of the shop :)

Went to another you pull today. Found some projectors in a BMW and got them for 5.00 per. Also got a fender and door hings for the cavalier too.

Since I plan to sell the cavalier for a decent flip price and pick up another CB7, I want to retrofit the projectors in some headlights like in this link.

MYCB7.COM :: View topic - My JDM Headlight HID Retrofit

Check out the projectors. One was missing the bulb but the other was still in but.. its blown. it has "15k" on it as well.. factory hid's?

ZOMBIE THREAD!!

Had to bring it back to brag a little..

I went to the metal recyclers just to kick around in their junk, same place as earlier in this thread, and I found this:

I did some research on it... Its a 1937 Montgomery Ward Powr Kraft Drill Press, the heavy duty one they sold back in the day!! I plugged it in and it still works like a champ. Its missing the safety guard for the pulleys, but who gives a shit about safety? I like the look of it without, anyway. I'm going to completely dismantle it, clean it up, re-grease it all, and probably use it the rest of my life. Awesome find. Paid $30 (weight). Little bugger weighs 138 pounds! What an sexy thing to have in a shop. :D

Thread jack...kinda... for just a second... but it kinda fits here.

My friend moved into a rental house a few years back that had not been lived in for a while. He went out and mowed the grass- and found a corksport intercooler, under the grass, in the yard... NO LIE. :wtf:

Btw- to the OP. That is one hell of a thread title. I had to read it twice. LOL
