no shit... i skated for 14 yrs and never in my life seen anything like that.. i've seen friends get arrested for mouthing off to cops, but thats it..

substitute shop teacher in 7th grade smashed by friend Bryce's head against the shop table in class because he wouldnt stop talking

coming straight from the underground, a young nigga got it bad cause I'm brown

and not the other color so police think, they have the authority to kill a minority

Wow that is perhaps the stupidest shit I have ever seen. I like how the bike cop just stood there and let it all go down. Man I feel so safe with hard asses like these fellows are watching over my family and I at night.

woah dude. on go skateboarding day!!! thats fucked up, cop not only used excessive force on not one, not two, but three people. Count em, three.

[stewie]oooooooooooooo you're gonna get sueeeed[/stewie]

I went skateboarding on skateboarding day, our downtown put signs up for people walking to be off to the side, it was great! (Our main strip is a 4 block long brick walk-only road that is pretty wide)

hahaha

fuck these guys

Kid one:

Did illegally ride a skateboard against a law

then

attempted to flee an officer

at that point the police officer is authorized to use force to subdue the fleeing criminal

Kid Two and Kid Three:

Did illegally interfere with the arrest

then fled

same as before, the officer can use force to subdue

The skateboarders have probably disregarded the no skateboarding law before, the officer was fed up with it, and acted within the full extent of his rights even if common sense says it was a bit much.

as for the skateboarders you can't use the "Napster Defense" (it's not illegal because I don't agree with the law)

in this case that law was no skateboarding in public, had they not broken that law (or the law of interfering with a police officer), had they not fled from the police, the incident wouldn't have happened.

Personal Responsibility for the win

:withstupid: The cop went way overboard IMO, but the kids are the ones who broke the law apparently.

YouTube - How to not get your ass kicked

As you can see the skateboarders in question failed to follow Mr Rocks simple and effective rules. While not every rule applied to this situation, had they used these

obey the law
stop immediately
shut the fuck up

They would not have got their ass kicked, by the police...

well apparently someone felt differently than you.. because he got put on adm. leave because of this..

The problem here is EVERYONE. Snot nosed, stupid teenage kids, power-hungry and corrupt cops who find justification in everything they do, and scared shitless bystanders who allow shit to go down.

That whole street needs anthrax.

I became good friends with a bouncer at a bar because I knocked his ass out with a chair. He was beating on a friend of mine, who I knew didn't do what the bouncer thought was done. Simple, two requests ("Get off of him") went ignored (As you can imagine) so I grabbed a chair and brained him.

He wasn't too happy when I DID IT, but I didn't duck out, and I stuck around to man up to the challenge. Then I pointed out what really should have happened, and justice was served. Friends with the guy now.

If I saw this happening, to either the cop / security square badge or the kids, I would step in. You know how much security and cops are harassed by punk kids, and you know how often kids are harassed by cops. Fuck it dude, you do what you need to do.

Now when a cop writes me a ticket for tax evasion, that's when I get pissed. Cops are armed, badged tax collectors. They are asked to enforce the stupidest shit in the world, and they do it in a para-military capacity that MUST be followed. Then on the other hand the civilians are enraged that they are being forced to behave by openly armed "Thugs".

The real problem with the WHOLE system is the ridiculous laws. And anti-skating laws are near the top of that list.

The no boarding laws are (at least in that case) designed for high foot traffic areas where injury could occur.

nobody would assume anything was wrong if they were playing Tennis, the police ordered them to stop, then they ran

punk kids have been disrespecting the law and getting owned since there was a law, the fact we own video cameras doesn't change this.

I'm not saying the cop was right, but to say the skaters didn't cause this is just disregard for what is the law

I totally agree with 'cel on this one. The cops, the kids, the bystanders.. Noone did anything right.

Skaters and Cops have been on opposing sides taunting one another since the dawn of skateboarding. Skaters have the right to have fun. But they really do destroy alot of stuff when they grind. Clean concrete edges become gnarled, curbs and railings get paint scraped off.. If you've ever been to a popular skating place, you'll notice that everything that can be ground on looks like total ass. But the cops take that, and start trying to enforce that on skaters that aren't harming anything at all. "A skater is a punk, and they should all go to jail" seems to be the police mentality. And "Cops are pigs and should all fuck off" is the skater mentality. So its pretty obvious that when these two factions clash, all hell is going to break loose. There are 89070897698 videos on youtube that are just like this one.

this cop was out of control
you don't need to choke out a kid that you have 200 lbs and a foot height advantage on

that officer simply had an enormous power trip.. notice the other officer wasnt grabbing kids by the neck and putting them in chokehold.. and it looked like he slammed their heads together..

Second cop just grabbed one kid and pushed another, nothing like choking one on the ground or holding two in headlocks at the same time. That cop was on a power trip, like 98% of cops in the US. Broken law or not, that IS excessive force.

What baffles me the most is Cel's stand about how skateboarding laws are rediculous. :p
