I got another computer and swapped that in, same results. I tried unplugging the shift selector switch. didn't do anything. I also unplugged both of the solenoid packs on the trans which made the "D4" like blink but still only have reverse gears.
I plan on trying a new switch before I pull the...
I just bought the car supposedly needing a trans. has 190,xxx miles.
When the car is in park it will move backward like it is in reverse if you give it gas, if I put it in first gear it also goes backward but seems to catch sooner like its a different reverse gear. pretty much every gear goes...
I have a '98 civic EX with the Y8 engine and a blown botttom end.
I did the research to find out I can bolt my head to a Z6 block which I went ahead and purchased.
My idea here is to get this car in good running order again with a low budget, I'm not looking for performance, just...
Hey guys. I've got a 98 Civic EX with the d16y8 and its locked up. I want to just swap the block over and/or put a good crank in with some eagle rods and some forged pistons for turbo-charging the beast. From what i've seen all the blocks from 92 to '00 will work(i'm assuming providing the are...
My buddy has a 91 accord EX with Automatic trans. other than 1st gear it seems like it starts out literally in whatever gear you put it in. For example if you put it in 4th it lugs/slips excessively to try to get going, 3rd is a little better, 2nd and 1st seem exactly the same( i don't think it...
Sure this is a kinda old thread but did you ever get your civic running straight again?
Timing definately needs to be right on otherwise lose of power, gas mileage and other things will result.
so the computer is different. is the chip different too. i've seen aftermarket chips so I assume they are changeable.
my problem is fixed. the timing was actually off so after the engine was timed properly it runs great.
Nevermind guys. I figured it out myself. I checked the timing again after the engine was in the car and it was off a tooth. I put it back together and it works fine!
while the timing was off I used 8.8 gallons to go 52 miles, yeah thats right about 5.8 mpg! It is however much better now!
sorry Calesta.
I was agreeing with you but now I sound stupid....
It DOES NOT cause loss of power... just to clear that up.
Lighter is always better. who cares if it's a little harder to drive. lighter revs faster and saves gas! all thngs i like!
It Allows you to get more torque to the...
I swapped a F22b DOHC engine into '95 h23a1 prelude w/auto trans.
I was told this should work alright but I am having some running issues.
I'm wondering how the computers work, the engine came from a 92 manual car now its in a car with a auto computer. I was wondering if this computer/cams...
Well I properly mounted the knock sensor and even bought a new one just to try(@ $136.08) but after puting a few miles on it still acts funny. Example: after the car has warmed up and I come to a red light it will idle at about 500 rpm and then If I try to take off it will almost stall and...
Well I have the engine in and have driven the car a few times.
I had to relocate/make a spot for the knock sensor cause the f22b doesn't come with one.
While driving it around it seems to have no power whatsoever at low RPM once the engine warms up.
I got the check engine light for the knock...

ok. Well I pulled and purchased the F22b dohc and manual trans from a 1992 prelude yesterday. I am planning on just droping the whole engine in and probably using my old intake for wiring ease.
Question :
The h23a1 has what looks like a liquid oil cooler mounted at the...
My goal is to get the car running properly and cash effectively, to the be able to sell it and make some ching.
I'm not looking to make mods or make it go fast. Its an automatic anyway. just picked it up as a side project.
All the block says is F22B. nothing else. It is a dohc. So I assume it is a JDM that came in SI Preludes in japan from 92-96.
I just want to know if I can use my head, or even just my intake manifold(using the f22b block and head) and the same computer in my 95 SE h23a1.
