Inexpensive springs & dampers for a worn-out '95 EX coupe?

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I probably won't keep the car for many more years, so I'm gonna go with the GR2s. I can get 4 shocks and SofSports for $385 shipped from Import Replacement Parts.

    Crank Pulley Bolt is stuck!

Long-term follow up: Several months ago, I noticed I was losing power steering, and low battery light came on. I opened the hood and tightened up the accessory belts and continued driving, only to hear nasty noises a few miles later. I looked again, and the crank pulley was waay loose...

Inexpensive springs & dampers for a worn-out '95 EX coupe?

Hey Guys, My '95 EX coupe now has 287,000mi and I'm pretty sure all 4 shocks are blown. Rear springs (and maybe fronts) are probably fatigued, as I overloaded the car many times in college and it now exhibits horrible body lean. The car's probably near the end of its life, so I don't want...

    Crank Pulley Bolt is stuck!

It's true, it worked. I did have to heat it up, though. I had my ~200-lb boss standing on the end of a 4-foot cheater bar, and it wouldn't budge. Heated it to a dull red glow with an acetylene torch, and then it moved.

    Crank Pulley Bolt is stuck!

I'm working on replacing the timing belt on my D16Z6 and I'm stuck on step 1: remove the crank pulley bolt. I borrowed a friend's air compressor and 3/8" impact wrench, that couldn't do it. Tried a propane blowtorch, tried penetrating oil, nothing. Took it to Big O, they couldn't get it off...

    Advice on aftermarket exhaust?

Earlier this week I took my 95 Civic EX in to a muffler shop to check out an exhaust leak. The tech said the resonator is rusted and cracked, as well as most of the pipe from the cat back. I figure now is the time for a modest exhaust upgrade. He suggested a performance resonator ($75), a...

A buddy needs help with AC

Hey Guys and Gals, My roommate just bit the $500 bullet to get his 1992 Accord converted to R134a. after performing the work, the dealer told him he needs a new compressor, accumulator, compressor clutch, and inlet and outlet hoses. It's going to be another $1400, which he can't really afford...

    EK rear disk swap

Honestly, I'm not sure what it means either, but it's the proportioning valve used in hondas with rear discs, as opposed to a 3030 for rear drums. the 4040 sends more pressure to the rear, since discs require more pressure to produce the same braking force. the number should be printed on the...

http://www.jdmvtec.com/5lugday2.html this is conversion to 5 lug, but it should be pretty much the same process.

    EK rear disk swap

as far as I know, the entire rear trailing arms should swap over. there might be a difference in the length of the e-brake cables, but they'll probably fit too. I'd also recommend taking the master cylinder if it's a 15/16" and the proportioning valve if it's a 4040.

platinum plugs: to gap or not to gap?

I bought a set of Bosch platinum spark plugs before my trip to the desert and installed them in the car. My roommate suggested I set them to the factory recommended gap of .039-.043 in, but my chilton's manual says never adjust the gap on platinum plugs. several other friends agreed with the...

Where's the coolant bleeder screw on a 95 Civic EX?

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. Turns out there's no bleeder screw on my car. I guess certain models, either EX's or 93-95's don't have/need them. You just run the car with the heater on and the radiator cap open, and keep filling the reservoir until the level stabilizes. I just did this...

Where's the coolant bleeder screw on a 95 Civic EX?

I've checked the thermostat, upper & lower radiator hoses, and all over the radiator. Can anyone with a 95 Civic EX tell me where their bleeder screw is? Furthermore, is there a drain plug on the block for the coolant? I've got a great idea for a repair manual: list the steps for routine...

    MC swap w/o brake swap?

you'll have less pedal travel, but will require more pedal force. it's like having a shorter lever arm.

    brake system volume?

I also vote for the RR, LF, RF, LR method. Honda splits brake fluid into two lines, one to RR & LF, and one to RF and LR. so do one diagonal pair first, then the other.

    rounded brake line fitting

when i did my MC/prop. valve swap I think I rounded off every single flare nut, even with the flare nut wrench. i ended up using vice grips, then hammering the vice grips. It was probably the most frustrating thing i've ever done on a car.

    Car steers on its own

capone could be right about the castor. Most cars are set up with a bit of negative castor. This effectively gives the car negative camber only while turning. Positive castor will result in positive camber when turning and is to be avoided. If the car has bad suspension bushings, the torque...
