No spare tire with that thing? Stupid on Hyundai's part.

worst case scenario i hit the damn button on the mirror, and get a free tow to the dealer.

I'm kinda curious to see how much oil shows up in the can as opposed to your N/A car.

Not that it has anything to do with Hyundai, but VW seems to be struggling with the newer gti models. A friend's gf owns one, and the car was consuming ridiculous amounts of oil (enough for the dummy light to come on) between oil changes. The dipstick wasn't even registering last time my friend went to change the oil.

Well VW might not be a fair comparison. My mom had a 99 Jetta 4cyl and got rid of it with 42k on it. The oil consumption was about the same your freinds GTI.

the forum members state about 1/2 cup every oil change, but i'm sure i am much harder on my car than those guys. and racing season is right around the corner (i've already booked for 2 road courses this year!!!)

I wasn't trying to say the Hyundai was going to use a lot of oil, I was just curious. With many of the manufacturers making the change to lower displacement turbocharged engines, oil consumption is just something I wanted to compare between brands.

It's the combination of the turbo plus gdi that makes consumption worse than on the genesis.

My NAV had more stuff than the gen. But I am sure im WOT a lot more too :)

this morning work began.

here i pulled the bumper off to remove the intake resonator and put on the new grille.

i took a 400 miles round trip to get a $100 seibon carbon fiber hood with some small cracks in the gelcoat around the front of the hood and the passenger side headlight. the original complaint was that the hood was tough to latch, because of the 2-3 inch airgap between the underside of the hood and the top of the hood in the front. i will be filling this gap with expanding foam for added stiffness. otherwise pretty much perfect fitment. the "vents" are also full carbon fiber!

will later on be installing aerocatch pins and removing the factory latch for safety reasons.

dropped my hood off at my parents place, to live in the safety of their heated basement :)

we blue-taped the edges of the hood down for added protection. with a little bit of finagling the hinges i was able to get it to latch pretty easy.

some cool photos from the trip. 209 is a gorgeous mountain road! these photos were taken with my canon nikon dslr iphone 5.

had a small spat with a worked cobalt SS, he walked me every time

fun trip!

Very nice, looks like a fun drive.

Personally, I think Kyle has better taste in wheels.

its already off, and the factory hood is back on.

i wont run that hood until i can put pins in it. unfortunately the bulkhead to my basement is covered in ice, so i couldnt take the hood all the way home.

also for what it is worth.

the factory hood with the vents, insulator, rubber bumpers and lift struts weights at 31lbs.

the carbon hood with none of that, is 16lbs.
