I'm 16 and I'm happy with the $400 paychecks I used to get working fulltime and going to school. It wasn't a lot til I had $3,000 saved up for my car. Gotta find a new JOB! Money's draining fast I only have $800 left in the bank lmao.

Look, im from texas too, and as such, im not going to give you (or the new girl) a buncha shit on this one.
But the guys are right. Hell, if they said it about me theyd still be right.
At 16 your maturity level (and I dont care if you are "mature for your age") is not exactly there yet. Why do you think sports cars cost money. Why do you think they pay you pittance to do a job that no one else wants to do. Because you havent paid your dues yet.
Everyone drives the shitty car when theyre young. Everyone wants to be more than they currently are. No one is going to dawg you for that. What they will call you on is being young, and being too young to admit thats whats going on.
We've all been 16, we've all grown old enough to look back on that time and say "Man i was stupid". Thats the part that i dont think yall are realizing.
If a young person wants a FAST car and gets a fast car...what are they going to do? Theyre going to drive it fast cause "thats what it was made for". They arent going to drive like a normal individual cause people that do are assholes or pussies. Right? Well I drive an S2000...I'm 21 years old, and the number of times my car has been above 90 i can count on one hand (im counting trips, not actual times its been above 90). Why is that? Cause im not a douche bag on the road anymore. My prelude (God rest its soul) saw 150MPH on at least a weekly basis. I was young, i thought my shit was quick, and you know what...its out of my system now. Thank god i didnt hurt me or anyone else...cause if i did...it would have been REALLY bad.
Now, I go to work, hang out with buddies the same as I used to...im just not a douche bag on the road. I drive my car, occasionally roll with the top down...and go on with my life. That extra 3 minutes, or the adrenaline rush I got while scaring the piss out of other people on the freeway just isnt worth it. With age, youll realize it, and youll stop trying to 'bow up' to people that call you on being young.
I know im talking down to you like im 30, but there is a definite maturity gap between 16 and 21. Youll know it when you see it.

thank you for saying what needed to be said and not being a total assclown about it. being wise at 21 is still being wise. i'm 21 myself and i do the same thing...look back at my younger years and laugh at myself in the wonder that i am still alive.

my thing about all this is how at 16 is she coming up with upwards of $20k. i may be less off than most but i am a career military man and i work my ass of for the money i have and i didnt even claim $20k on my taxes last year. this just kills me on how kids are getting that kind of money.
my advice to you is buy a honda civic for a couple grand and learn how to drive first. and when you are 21 and have a better grip on the wheel then put your money into minor mods for the car. dont go out and dump all your money into a car that you cant drive correctly. you may think you can drive but you are at that age that you think you know everything. news flash...you dont have a clue. because you got your license this year and you have been driving back and forth to school everyday doesnt mean that you know how to handle a car. '
if you spend $20k on a car that is seriously fast i promise you that you will wrap that machine around a tree, and kill yourself and the friends who trusted you. and if you dont it will be a stroke of luck that many young people (including myself) have misunderstood as "skill". dont kid yourself into thinking you can drive.

first - dont bother buying a fast car because as everyone above said you're going to wreck it. i KNEW how to drive at 16/17 and with many many years of racing under my belt at that point my dumbass still managed to WRECK a few cars.
and as said above i look back and wonder how fucking stupid i was - and i didnt even have a fast car.
now i have a nice new car, and a race beater, one which is VERY fast, and the other which isn't fast but much more fun to drive, and im getting shit on by everyone because i drive the speed limit. i signal when i change lanes. etc etc.
both my cars can easily break 100mph. have i? not in a long time.

You know, my car isn't 'fast' but it's fast enough for me. I can spank a lot of people on the road, but i enjoy driving it. It's not how fast I go, it's how I get in it, drive around that mountain, and feel like I'm relaxing. I'm just that way with my car though. I just think she should worry about growing up first and not being a spoiled brat... but, then again, live it up now, cuz you won't get everything you want forever unless you're gorgeous AND smart.
