Linh has a 2007 Civic SI and from day one (bought it used at around 12K miles) the car had issues going into 3rd gear, doesn't grind, but it just takes a firm push, if you don't push hard enough it wont go in, its just now getting worse where it's annoying. We're just now getting around to calling the dealership to get it looked at. Linh called yesterday to Honda of Tysons (NVA) told them the car has about 37-38K miles on it and told them the problem.
Over the phone they told her, without looking at the car or knowing anything other then its hard to get into 3rd gear, that will be around $2200 to fix. She asked if it was under warranty they said, no the warranty is only for 36K miles. She sent me a message telling me the details of what they said, I told her don't worry about it I'll take care of it later.
I call up the local Honda dealership to us and ask the same question. Told him it's hard going into 3rd gear, thankfully, maybe since I'm a guy, He told me they would have to look into it and couldn't say much over the phone. I asked if it was covered under warranty, he said if the cars got 37-38K miles on it, then no. I then asked him why the powertrain warranty was though of as the bumper to bumper limited warranty he then said, well, we can try to call honda of America to see if they'd approve of the work. I then asked isn't the limited power train warranty that covers the engine, transmission and drive train a 60K mile warranty, he then said yes. Oh, so then is it covered? He said it should be.
