Yeah it was a recall. So I kinda had to take it to them.
But also. Since my car has like 135,000mi on it at this point, and these things aren't really known for long lasting wheel bearings, I've decided to be a bit pro-active about it. I'm buying 1 new bearing every few weeks when I have some spare cash. And I'll replace them in the spring at about 150,000 when I switch back to summer mode or when one goes bad, whichever comes first.
So since the bearing assembly on these aren't press in anymore, you buy the whole assembly and just bolt it on. I've decided since I have these fresh bearing off the car, might as well add ARP studs while I'm at it lol.
Getting the OE studs out was easy, just pressed them out, but I can't line up the studs/hub on the press due to the weird shape on the back. I used one of my winter wheels and an old rotor to get the new studs in.
Used a bit of anti-seize, tightened the lug nuts until I hit 90ftlbs (didn't want to over tighten and damage the studs), and that got the studs in about 3/4 of the way. Finished up up with a few whacks on the back of the stud with a 2lb sledge using a 3/8 extension to focus the blows on the back of the stud.
Finished!
I've only bought the two rear bearings so far. I'll do the other rear tomorrow and the fronts whenever I get them.
