wow, i didn't realize it was today. lol that wasn't much time to prepare.
yeah I know. Now that i'm slowed down a bit I'll explain more of how it went. First and foremost I was just happy to get a response. I rushed through the S2000 and kept it a stock bottom end. Didn't even get to the evo so i was a little nervous.
I walk in, admire the showroom. it's amazing. Wait for them to come get me. I meet the sales manager and the general manager (GEO w/ lambo killer supra).
They ask me what skills make me stand out in my current job. I explained professionally.
He then asked what my first car was. So i explained, Honda CRX single cam. mini me swap, then LSvtec CRX, onto a fully built lsvtec, BREAK FOR A COUPLE YEARS, Acura RSX with bolt ons, WRX and now retarded Sti.
He wanted to know if I was into cars BEFORE sales career. Also wanted to know how much I knew. He made me describe an engines moving parts from top to bottom. I picked a Subaru so lets just say side to side. lol. Also wanted to know my extent of modding. bolt on type of guy or internal builder type. I answered honestly that internals, tight tolerances I leave to the pro's. I'll put a cylinder head on, I'll install and engine but internals just aren't my thing. header, turbo, injectors, exhaust, custom thinking yeah... but that's about it.
We then went over the cars he recommended me to 'build'. He said he purposely chose to be vague in his request because those may be the type of calls I'll get. Obviously i'll handle it accordingly but he was curious of my knowledge of honda, toyota, evo, type of fuels, turbo knowledge, injector sizes etc.
Honda - I explained what I would have requested but thankfully he made it easy by asking me random parts questions.
what type of fuel pump - AEM 320 in tank
Type of injector - ID725's
What type of turbo, what size, why the size, what size hotside
I had that covered
On to the 2jZ motor
What size turbo
what size injectors - ID2000
what about fuel? dual pump hanger and twin 340's
I recommended cams, springs, retainers etc and explained why
He asked about the block. I told him while I'm not as knowledgeable about the engine my quick research showed the block on E85 could support 1000hp.
S2000 is where it slowed down a bit.
i didn't recommend block internals because I didn't get to it. and thank goodness. Apparently you can't just throw in CP pistons on the F22C. He asked if I knew that and I honestly answered no. My Honda adventures pretty much ended with the B series. It' wasnt a bad thing. He said it was cool. It's something that can easily be trained.
6766 turbo
ID1000's
head work, internals etc. and we started to chat about other stuff and what they are looking for.
Asked if I spoke spanish which was a huge plus! He liked my videos in my resume. I'm the face of Subaru in a sense to 'how to' videos and such are my thing. We have a youtube page. They liked that about me.
I'm nervous and excited just typing this. There are many other people wanting the job so hope I gave a good enough impression to get called back.
REAL St. is no longer a "shop" for cars. After talking to them and seeing the 20,000squ ft. building I see it's a corp. a process driven company. They way they presented themselves, the way they were dressed, etc.
If i get it great. If not. oh well.
P.S i threw in a Hondaswap plug as my source of how i learned much of Honda back in the day.
