i agree with it because its the number one problem with pork barellel crap the dems keep trying to pass.

Not one of these questions were well thought out. And almost all of them had a list of options that I don't want.

Cthulu 08 !

I suppose it does work as a bandaid solution in that kind of case, but what's needed is a ban on riders and amendments, or at least a requirement that they be strictly related to the bill in question.

Along with my proposal for a constitutional amendment:

In addition to the crimes considered treasonous in Article III, Section III of this Constitution, tampering with any part of the federal or state electoral process, or altering the results thereof, shall also be considered treason of the highest order.

If you want Socialism go to Canada, thats not what America is about :(

one months spending on the iraq war will pay for universal health care for every american for 1 year

from a completely liberal moonbat socialist source

...yes, but with a universal health care plan, the costs are infinite because there's no plan to end.

You can say the war in Iraq may take years, but its certainly will not be supported as a war that lasts year after year for the duration of your life.

Essentially your "offset the costs" argument works while the war wages on and then it crumbles when the war is eventually ended.

This is a capitalist society, not a socialist society. I'm sorry that I don't wish to support the irresponsible, bottom feeders, that are incapable of taking care of themselves.

Health care is a major problem and needs to be regulated, but not socialized. Require that R&D costs be X% of profits. We'll start seeing new advancements in medicine from a system of this sort. Or regulate the industry where X% in profits is considered price gouging, therefore a price ceiling for medications will have to be set. This is less enticing to technological advancements, but ensures that the common person be able to obtain medication and care at a reasonable expense.

Privatization of social security? You bet your ass. Take some personal responsibility. The government already has tax sheltered vehicles meant specifically for retirement.. If you're too irresponsible to save your money for the future because you have to have the latest and greatest things today, meanwhile you live in a world of debt, then don't look for a hand out when it comes time to retire. I don't want to support your broke ass because you pissed your money down the drain, meanwhile I lived all these years in moderation because I was saving and planning for the future.

Its scary, to me, that anyone can support Hillary Clinton. She is a god damn joke.

how can you be surprised? i know that john mccain and ron paul arent george bush...but they are running under his flag...very few people want more of bush's bullshitery.

McCain said we could be there for 100 years.
and???

we are still in Germany
we are still in Japan
we are still in Korea
we are still in a lot of places... just because we are not actively fighting does not mean we are not there
we will likely maintain a presence in Iraq and Afghanistan "permanently"

"Running under his flag."

Al Gore is a god damn moron and democrats seem to do just fine even though he was once on their ticket.

McCain said we could be there for 100 years.

This isn't a difficult concept to understand, he compared yearly expenditures of a war that will not be infinite, to a universal health care plan with ultimate goals of being infinite.

Even if we have a presence in Iraq for 100 years, we won't have the same expenditures that we have at a peak time in conflict.

He painted a pretty picture that the budget would be offset, which completely leaves people that think the war expenditures are ridiculous, and universal health care expenditures are also ridiculous, out in the wind.

Ideally I wouldn't like the government pissing my tax dollars away, I would like that money in my pocket.

I support expenditures for the war, to a degree, because in a way its a multi-faceted battle that attempts to bring justice to Islamic radicals and to secure our economic position by gaining control of our primary source of energy. Even then, I think that the more economical plan is to carpet bomb and call it a day.
