according to a recent story on NPR: china still has the ZPG policy in place; a family can have one child with no problems -- more than one and the family takes a huge financial penalty. the exceptions are some of the minority cultures within china; they can have more than one kid without taking it in the ass financially.
 
Some of you are talking about your parents and large families "back then." You need to remember that there was not a whole lot of birth control back then, and when it first came out anti pregnancy was frowned upon. So religious or not, large families just happened out of humans wanting to have a little fun in bed.

America really does not have that much of a problem with large families. Places like NYC have very small families.
 
china limits the amount of children in rural areas. if you have more than one, they are consider "black market". they don't get real birth certs and social numbers. they are basically unlisted. in the cities it's ok.
 
they have been on a few shows on the discovery channel i believe... the way i see it; they are doing there part in combating the influx of mexicans in this country

Wow, most of your opinions shock me. Granted, I knew Nick was a fascist at heart who believes that his framework of morality should be legislated and enforced by a gestapo of Judge Dredd jury/executioners. And I also expected Blanco's hippy "stop overpopulating mother earth" nonsensical dingbat mentality, which would make sense if everyone was 20-35 years old, living in California, and stoned all the time. It is obvious by your statement about how the parents must be neglecting their children that you have few, if any siblings. Maybe you do have lots of siblings, but had neglectful parents, either way your comment was either steeped in ignorance or grossly biased.
What I didn't expect were all the personal insults, vilification, and downright hatred of the parents. Here are two committed parents who are not just dumping kids into the world to leach off the system, they are raising them responsibly, teaching them to work hard, giving them a good education, these are the most likely candidates to grow up and make positive contributions to society. Compare them to the welfare moms, and the illegal aliens cranking out green card baby's and these people are downright heroic. Think of the sacrifices necessary to raise all those kids in an effort to displace all useless trash being manufactured by the uteri of an insatiable multitude of socialist leeches. These people are combating the downfall of America which is laziness and stupidity by raising hard working, properly educated citizens.
If I saw them on the street I would shake their hands and tell them they have a beautiful family.

I gotta spread some rep, but here is a soft rebuttal in the meantime.

This family has several ideas that I have a problem with:

They obviously feel that the world somehow deserves their seed. We have no idea how neglectful they are. Their choice in names makes me think it's a joke to them. All speculation, but my speculation is no different than yours - Remember, the cameras are turned on to them at that moment. Everyone is going to clean up their act.

My friend has 8 kids. No artificial insemination involved. His kids get things like "a package of #2 pencils" and "an unwrapped little debbie with a match hanging out of it" for their birthday, which is a date that's largely forgotten. Some of his kids can get away with anything, the older ones (around 14 years old now) are tasked primarily with taking care of their younger siblings. They have no life.

People who artifically inseminate, and then claim that god has blessed them, are completely full of shit. "God" seemed to bless them with either a barren uterus or a non-functioning dick. That's what "god" had planned. Artificial insemination as a combat to impotency is a great way to spit in the eye of god, allah, or the flying spaghetti monster. Whoever.

It's their own greed that makes them continue to breed like rabbits. They want want want those children so badly, they'll stop at nothing - no excuse so justifying - that they develop medical procedures to get them.

but I digress, it appears that these dingbats have done it naturally, as my friend has. My friend also believes that it's his right to do this, it's good to do this, and it's pontificated daily. The truth of the matter is that his kids are infested with fleas, foot fungii and seriously bad haircuts. They wear Coca Cola shirts, plaid pants and 25 year old Keds because it's all they can afford.

This family looks on par with that.

As far as their education, they are receiving it. But there isn't enough time in the day to check in with them to see if anything is sticking. By the time they are talking in complete sentences and reading passages from the bible, they are assigned two or more younger siblings to look after until 10 at night.

I understand where you are coming from but once again, you cite a very negative example, which, seems to have lent itself to your negative view. Maybe you are just always negative. Whatever. I was recently in Southern California for a friend's wedding. The reception was in a huge tent in the bride's yard. She is one of 13 kids. Every child in that family is intelligent, well kept, well dressed, and has the time of their life every day because they wake up and all their friends are there. The wedding was a blast. Her older brothers are fun as hell and caused a whole bunch of trouble. Their house is huge, and clean. The point is, most large families are NOT families of neglected degenerates.

Klyph is right. You all clearly either grew up in small families, or were neglected in large ones. This thread became the psychoanalytical couch for many of you. I've had so much fun with all my siblings and I'm only one of 6. My brothers and I jam whenever I go home to visit (one plays guitar, one plays bass). My sister and I shared a house at school and had the time of our lives. And nothing beats cuddling up on the couch with my 9 year old sister and 6 year old brother and watching hours of Sponge Bob together. I can't imagine missing out on all that or going home to an empty house with working parents. Look at the fuckin' brats on My Super Sweet Sixteen. Douchbags. And this is what you are all advocating? How about My Super Sweet Shotgun up Your Spoiled Bitch Rectum?

Only children may get all the new clothes they want and a new car on their 16th birthday. Fuck that though. One day Mommy and Daddy will die and they'll be all alone. I'll take a lifetime of good memories and a strong family support system in my old age long before a new fuckin' Audi and a few pairs of jeans.

We're still at opposite ends of the spectrum here. I'm not talking about columbian families that sell their kids for a motorcycle, I'm more middle of the road.

Negativity is the basis of an accurate perception. If I'm wrong, then I'm pleasantly wrong. I knew lots of families that are like yours too (happy and well-strung) and I still prefer that deal to the ace-level abortionists who kill babies because they can't fit the birth into their itinerary and pre-paid airline tickets to Germany (I know someone that actually did this). THAT is the opposite end of the scale.

What Cliff says is spot on, for this forum. It seems that 80% of this forum would kill a baby because it meant that after the butterfly flaps it's wings in Utah, a website owner in Connecticut has to spend an extra penny at the end of the year to get this unwanted baby's teeth straightened. It's that kind of mentality that I believe lies opposite what UNDR and Klyph are pointing out.

I knew that. I just wanted to hear his stupid explanation for such a policy. I'm glad he's not a dictator too. He would kill all his own potential mates.
 
If you really want to hear the voice of the left, tune in to Al Franken. "You sir, are a big poopy head ! " The statements that support the behavior are not reasons, they are excuses. Liberals for change are honored and listened to in areas of the world that need change. East Timor, Thailand, the Middle East, ex-Soviet Russia - All of these areas take Liberal viewpoints to stand against the establishment for reasonable change.

But when liberal mindset is being leveraged against... no, railed against an establishment that has helped a country come to be a world superpower after only 232 years - it fails it's own people on a grave level.
