What to get....
I'll have a decent tax return...and some vacation pay and other shit...I'll have a decent lump of money, Me and the wife wants to have some time in Japan this year, but we have to wait till she finishes her classes, so that will be around May... But she also wants me to get a newer car to have her pimp around with...and I wouldn't mind something reliable as well...so I'm looking for a Subaru...she wants an outback, I'm happy if I can find something that is BG5-ish... and well, I also want to get the pilots license, maybe get a plane.... a new TV would be nice, and some home improvements of course.... too many things to think about, or too consider...and not enough money to actually buy everything.
But the wife said that she could pop $200 a month my way for a car payment....so that would mean that we could get something in this century... My company will only shell out half of my flight hours for a private lic, so I'll prolly end up with a few grand to finish it....but they pay for the ground school and books. Then I'll only be able to fly a single engine plane...unless I dump more money and get type rated for twins,, and IFR...and other shit...then I can look for a plane to drop a second mortgage on. And I guess that means I might just give up on cars... I haven't really done anything this year or last year...and they are just rusting away, and the parts are collecting dust.... I'll prolly dump a little, and get one car decked out for an all around drift, autocross, and show car...and sell off the others...and sell off a lot of parts. That might make me back some money. And that could go for the house.
If the interest rates drop again, then I might refinance with a home equity loan in the $60Ks area...and use that for a down payment on a decent, safe plane... and now that the wife has MS, were stuck in northern area's forever...so moving to a warmer climate area is now out of the question..so I might as well stay at my current job and just rake the good money in. So I'll have plenty of time to just build the house up slowly, and make it perfect for just me and the wife.
Now what to do....
A. Dump all the money into a new Subaru, and end up with payments for a few years. No trip to Japan. 2005-7 legacy GT or outback...
B. Dump all the money into an older Subaru, and be stuck with no payments...and no trip to Japan.
C. Dump all the money into the projects I have now...and sell them. Possible trip to Japan...also possible new Subaru.
D. Dump half into Japan trip, half into sweet TV.
E. Dump half into Japan trip, half for home improvements..
F. Dump all of it into pilots licenses...
G. spread it around on everything...and live humble for another year.
H. Drop it in the markets...and see what it becomes.
I. Pursue the BG5...pimp it out to the hilt...prolly have it built by someone.
J. Dump it in the house...and get a few years dropped off my mortgage.
Right now I owe $135K's at 5.625% for 14 years on the house...and I have student loans thats at $27Ks...for another 12 years. And I make now an average of $90-110Ks a year... In other words, I pay $1600 a month for the mortgage, and that includes house insurance and taxes, I drop $70 a week into the student loans, $230 a week into the 401K, and the bills are 180 for car insurance... 60-200 for gas for heat, 200ish a month for electricity, 200 a month for phone, cable, internet, and cell phones. And I have the car gas that runs me about $30 every 4 days. So if I stop the cars, pick up planes, the same money will be used. And I do my own work since I'm an A&P mech...and all I'll have to do is rent a place to park the plane and come up with gas for it. I can now afford something, but what should I shoot for? I hate thinking for myself.
And also me having a plane, I could fly some of the local guys to pick up or look at a cars, snag parts, or short trips for the price of airplane gas and landing fee's.
