You can get a good midrange road bike for 2500-3000. Unless your racing it will do pretty much anything you need on the road.

This app annoys me slightly, I know its free but it doesn't even really work...just did 17.97 miles & it only tracked 8 of them according to the map
thats weird, i've never had that problem with the map tracking.
