The poor economy has killed some of it. People who modify cheap econoboxes tend to have less disposable cash laying around than others. There is that, and most of these cars are just OLD as shit. There aren't very many clean ones left. You can't make the argument that Honda doesn't make anything tunable anymore. The rsx and current civic si are both great platforms.

yeah but they are more expensive and heavy!

the reason i got back into the honda scene a couple years ago, is because it had gotten cheaper, and that i found a wealth of information online (mostly in forums). after doing a lot of reading and research, i realized that i could put together a fast and fun little 90s model honda for not all that much money. but, i do understand that a lot of people are barely scraping by these days and there is no extra money for even a cheap tuner car.

the miata thing...makes sense now - i've seen facktards driving them in large numbers the last 6 months and i could not figure it out. so, thanks for that clarity. and :puke: ...

Honda/Acuras are still very popular around here as well.. enough that you really gotta worry about your car disappearing

:werd: my rex has been busted into 2x in the last 5 months and they're parts shopping...have lived in 5 states prior to this and never had any attention on my rexes. i'm keeping on the down-low now. eff these thieving basterds.

big issue around here as well....always got to keep tabs on your honda or else the sketchy ricans will try and take it!

Hey UNDR8D, That wasn't my mom. That was my weird uncle Phil. He likes little boys and I asked him to keep you busy while I was banging your sister. A win-win, I would say.

Thanks for the insightful comments from everyone else. I guess we can smug and elitest since out numbers are few. Works for me!

See he did it back...so you have to give him stupid negative points and chastise him too lol

yeah, the biggest issue is a combination of what B and Jeef said.
honda has no newer cars worth a shit. and the old ones have all been raped and ghetto rigged to a point that its not worth touching. and the people selling them think that since they spent 500000000 hours and make claims of all the "built" parts in it, that they are worth 10X the actual value.

Tell me about it. I went through probably 25 civics before I found the EG I actually bought. Every person's house that I showed up was either trying to bolt the car back together as I was pulling up, or it was so blatantly obvious that the car was stolen that I didn't even look at it. Damn ricers and haters!!

hi

i build trucks now. specifically bagged minitrucks. no offence but the minitruck crowd is much helpful with each other rather than the import community hating everyone elses car and keeping everything they do a secret. simply put...import owners hate everyone. lol

Poor economy should help it.

People who have moved onto bigger and better things will fall back to the cheaper cars to make fast.

If I couldn't afford my Z I'd have no problem finding an old 92-95 shell and dropping a GSR motor in it with basic bolt ons.

Since I can afford my Z I want nothing to do with hondas lol although we went out last night in a new MDX and I was kinda digging it.

This is true. I always noticed that at shows the import crowd mills about looking hateful and acting competitive while my minitruck friends and I usually just sat there drinking beers and having a good time.

Interesting conversation I always thought the "scene" died off about 5 years ago and turned into fart cans.. people started heading into drifiting and back to trucks. Large car shows started seeing attendance drop off and the industry left the underground feel to become commercialized by then.

To be accompanied by race spots shut down with speed bumps and jersey barriers.. every swap was done by then and the "pioneering stage" was done..

I specifically blame cut springs, universal exhaust and racing stripes for the death..

oh yeah the car sound scene died mid import scene.. just to much weight..
