The R has some great visual upgrades too. If I had bought one for myself it would have definitely been an R line.

I don't know about your wife or if you drive the Tiggy at all, but the lack of power on this thing is so dreadful and there isn't one tuner out there who has a worthwhile tune yet other than the buggy JB4 piggy back and NeuSpeed but the gains are mininal.

APR seems to be dragging their feet with releasing a tune and im hearing the new Gen3B EA888 2.0T doesn't appear to be able to make much more power over stock and we are looking at like 30hp 40tq at best. APR was getting 93HP and 79TQ with the 2017 VW Tiguan on Stage 1 High Torque tune giving the 2017 VW Tiguan Gen EA888 2.0t 321hp and 351tq(on 93oct) which is outstanding. The 2019 Tiggy would end up with around 214hp and 260TQ(184hp 220tq stock) with a Stage 1 tune which is weak sauce. I mean...those should be the stock numbers.

And now the 2021 Tiguan R will be coming out with the rumored Golf R 333hp engine in it although no one is sure the US will get it.

Alrighty i seem to be full of rants lately...done

If they do bring an R powered Tiguan to the states we will probably trade my wifes in and get one. I do wish they had brought the VW T-Roc R to the states though. Those things are pretty damn cool.

Well just in case you are interested...There are now some tunes out there for the Gen3B 2.0T, but from what I am hearing across the industry, we are going old school with having to ship the ECU to be bench flashed. The ECU does not need to be cracked opened though. But not one tuner has figured out an OBD port flash. Unitronic and APR are dragging their feet but i believe APR did say the ECU's will have to be shipped anyway.

My ECU is going to MTM USA in Miami for some pretty promising gains. They have been around since 1990 so they have 7 years experience on APR. The Tiggy will be going from 184hp/221tq to 245hp/280tq which is absolutely perfect. Those are almost 2019 Audi Q5 2.0T numbers at 252hp/273tq.

Performance Upgrade 4D Tiguan

I also spoke with Ian over at Reflect Tuning, he has a Gen3B tune as well that dyno'd at 235hp/307TQ. His tune is also much cheaper and i really don't know why i didn't choose Reflect. I just felt really good about MTM. Probably because Ian doesn't even have the tune listed on his website which makes me feel less confident about the stability of the tune. But i did communicate with him quite a bit. Anyway here is the link to Reflect.

that will change in 2-3 years im sure. it took 4 years for the veloster to be obd tuned. its just a matter of time.

not really unfortunately. its a cool car but they did so much stupid shit with it.

it's definitely fun to drive but i couldn't live with it everyday. my base model turbo has more features.
