First off im new to the forums, so therez that. Second off i got a 1988 CRX SI that I plan on building soon. Last owner swapped a b16a into it. Im going allitle crazier with it. Bought my donor car the other day, what do you all think of me doing the swap? Btw, the pics are from the previous owners house and on my way home with it. And the donor is a 2008 cadillac with a 3.6l direct injection engine. Gonna swap everything from the body into it, front end, rear end, motor, tranny, wiring, and hopefully most of the interrior

Wont be the first time ive done something similar. Once put a 350 in a rx7, not quite as much work but still pretty bad. Had to swap the suspension and stuff. And we are swapping everything from a 92 grand marquis into a 82 ford f150 soon to for my dad
 
Anything is possible with a welder and time/money.

In for the read and look forward to progress pics! This could be epic.
 
Its an Si and not rusty ! and dont waste your time on the caddy motor that 3.6 is a fat piece of shit that makes no power and has no aftermarket support whatsoever

thats completely different ballgame the cars already setup to be RWD and has trans/driveshaft tunnel. if you want a RWD CRX then buy a Miata

I know its a completly different ball game, but just because you wouldnt do it doesnt mean you should bust my balls over it.

Actually theres plenty of aftermarket support for it if you know where to look. Will over at overkill motorsports has plenty of bolt ons and tunes to get it close to 700hp. Which with it going to be weighing close to 2800-3000 pounds is more than enough to make it scream

Thinking about putting the whole swap on youtube as i go, but will be awhile before i can start, covid got things locked down atm

lol show me aftermarket support for a 3.6 lol and I am not trying to bust your balls but I do assure you there are tenfold better swaps than doing a baby mama/daddy special caddy swap. Those engines are prone to timing chain failure among quite a few other things including transmission failure etc and was a budget shared platfrom with GM/Opel etc.

And the timing chain failures where on the 06-07 very few have been reported on the 08s that are direct injection. As for the modules, im going to be swapping all wiring, modules and all, plus the dash and interior and have everything that is not needed programmed out. This aint my first rodeo bud

best of luck with it man , and Overkill literally only sells vortech belt superchargers for it (very common for most engines) 1110% that motor will shit its pants across the concrete with any kind of boost to it.

Well i guess we will see when i get it done. And they got the procharger and tunes there, it was another website i saw the superchargers and stuff. As soon as i can find it again i will post it. The only weak point in the engine is the centered rods. Some say that narrowed small block rods work, dont know for sure yet. But the motor thats in it is the same motor as was in the 2010-2011 camaro. Anything that works for it also works the the 08 cts

10-11 base camaro and cts non V , yes rods will be weak point and the "Tune" isnt really a gain until you have all the performance bolt ons etc on like you arent just going to "tune" it esp with a off shelf tune and gain much of anything. I am not trying to be negative or debbie downer just stating that the amount of time/labor/fab supplies cost/stand alone and "tune" and performance parts you could have a insane big horsepower swap in the car that drops in and bolts up. Just because have a wrecked base model caddy donor car IMO does not mean you need to swap it into a EF lol

Never said i would just tune it, i plan on building it, supercharging and tuning. I know its gonna cost more than say a ls or something like that, but theres no way a v8 would fit between the fender wells. I dont want it fwd i want it rwd. I love the car and thats why im building it. Its that simple. I know exactly what im getting into doing it.

then buy a Miata and dont ruin a few left EF Si lol.... pissing in the wind using that garbage motor lol IMO and literally have to cut the whole car apart front to rear and replace everything down to suspension components. Put the pipe down dude its a dream. This and swapping a s10 are not the same thing
 
Well like i said, we will see when i get it done. Might suprise you what i can do.
also might add... a CRX is a terrible rwd platform because the short wheelbase soo plot thickens more by time fab in front/rear subframe etc and have a driveshaft made ... you could have bought something else thats already fast ... not tryna be negative/debbie downer but again realistically not happening please dont cut up that Si
