+1 for the 302. Pick up a $250 junkyard long block, clean it up, throw $400 dollars worth of Edelbrock induction on it and a set of long tube headers, and finish it all off with a welded rear diff, then youll be scared to stand on the throttle at freeway speeds. 302's are a dime a dozen and theyre low buck screamers.

Hell ya, my buddy had a 302 with the stuff I mentioned earlier plus some 2.02/1.94 heads in a '69 F-100 with posi and some fairly nice tires. That truck was soo loose that you couldnt "launch" it, you could just accelerate rapidly with less tire smoke than normal lol.
