vtec accord?

my friend just blew his head gasket and wants to put a vtec head on his accord (4 cylinder) its a f22 right???

yes but they come in the newer accords 94-97 years

is the ecu for the 91 and 94 accord the same? and the head from a 94 will bolt up to a 91 right? (his car is a 91 he just told me)

the head will bolt up, but he will have to convert to obd1 get a new ecu, and run a few new wires for the vtec. if it was me id just save my money and buy a new f22b or h22a because by the time he buys a head and ecu and stuff he wont be that far away from just swapping a new motor in there

Why would he used a non-VTEC ECU on a VTEC head? The VTEC is not going to function without the proper ECU...
