This is nice! :) Pics were fwd'd to me from a friend, here is all that was stated in the email. ENJOY!
Subject: Interesting cargo last night

Saw this on the LAX flight this morning!

Ford spent $5 million developing this car, and another $2 million
just building this particular one. This is the first and only one of
this type in existence, and was completed yesterday afternoon in
California.

In January of 2004 it was sketched out on paper. In February a full
size mockup was molded in clay. Now, a year later, the real thing is
on it's way to the Detroit Auto Show. This car wasn't a mockup or a
shell. The sculptor, designer and escort for the car is hoping it
will take best of show this year. And Kitty Hawk delivered it!

This is the 2007 Ford Shelby GR1 concept car. If Ford decides to put
it into production, potential buyers can expect to pay around
$200,000 for it. The entire exterior of the car is polished
aluminum, and it has liquid cooled LED headlights. It was amazing
seeing this car up close and talking to the project leader for the
studio that built it.

I know you like cars and I thought you'd enjoy!

I saw them design that whole car on some show. It was pretty interesting. They wanted a modern car that was inspired by the older style mustangs. I dono if that is the actuall car or not in the picture but the car they "built" for promo shoots was made completly out of fiberglass. Except for the rims. I thought it was pretty damn cool lookin.

looks similar to the Cobras (not the convertible one either) that were used for racing. I'd rather see it in blue with white stripes tho. Looks good tho.

I think I heard somewhere they're close to 600hp at the crank. And IIRC they're based on the Shelby Cobra Daytona or something with Daytona in the name.

glare from that thing in the sun or your headlights would suck ass.

looks like a maserati and an aston martin had sex, and ford adopted the love child. :p lmao

It's design is inspired by the 61-63 Shelby designed Ferrari Daytona. But as a Toyota enthusiast, I like to say it's based more on the lines of the 1968-71 Shelby designed Toyota GT2000.

they had the whole buildup and design and everything on rides on TLC. awesome looking car, but they should have ditched the crome paint shit. they should have made it the same color as the prototype they unvealed a few months ago (which was just a fiberglass body on a chassis, nothing was functioning on the car, interior, suspensoin and wheels were all fake) it was a kind of gunmetal/pewter color and looked hot. the crome looks looks not good IMO.

I belive it's actually raw polished aluminum and not painted steel, but I could be wrong
