My engine is dead and I need to buy a new one.

I want to know if I should buy a h23 or a H22a ?

I want to install a turbo And it will be a every day driver.

I need some advice.

well its all about budget...if u want alot of power and u have alot of money go h22 turbo...but if u dont have ALOT of money then i would suggest just go h22 then worry about turbo later.....more info and i/we could better direct u where u want to be

go with a h23 cause with a turbo the internals on the h23 are stronger and will last longer

No 100% sure on this but i was told that a turbo on the h23 wasnt as good as doing it on the h22 but i also was told that the h23 block was stronger and to use h23 block and h22 head. I was going to this setup in my car before i made it daily driver. But i am not 100% sure

ok.

Motor is dead. perfect time to upgrade.

building H22's and H23's for boost is not easy. Mainly, their sleeves are coated with some weird gunk that makes running forged pistons require a sleeve job.

As stated by driver1, it all comes down to budget.

If you have 2-2500- get anoher h23
If you have 3000 - get an h22 swap
if you have 4000 - get an h22 type S swap
if you have 6k get an h22 swap, sleeve it, and build it for turbo
if you have 10k, see above, and add the turbo setup.

I have about 5K to spend on the engine.

I was thinking h22a.

But, I read that some others say something about h23 would give my more power after the turbo than the h22a engines.

If it was the H23. I was going to rebuild it my self.
If it was the H22a. I would still rebuild it my self.

I would like to put good aftermarket stuff in it.

I would also install the engine, tranny and ecu myself. If needed.

I don't have a problem swapping it for an h22a.

I will be also getting the hondaata s200 unit.

I have time to do it right.

I have another truck to drive. While I do it right.

I don't have a lot of money. But, I am planning saving money for it every week to improve it.

I don't have money for the turbo at this time.

But, I know what I would like at to end with.

I am also planning on putting small shots of Nos after the turbo.
(3 sec or so)

I not building it to race on a track or anything like that.

Just want it to take off from the line fast. A lot of get up and go.

I want more of a drive on a track with turns, than a straight track type driving car.

I'm new to the Honda engine thing.

I have owned Honda. I know how to work on any engine.

Just never really did any performance engine upgrades.

If you guy can help me out on, what upgrade to the engine I should do when I rebuild the engine.

I just want to end up at the end with the best setup at the end,

planning h23or h22a engine, stage 2 turbo, and small shots of NOS.

But, It has to be a daily driver.

if your looking for somethen cheap..
cuz if your going to put pistons in and all that just rebuild the h23. maybe put a h22 head on it

If you have money, then you will have no problem doing an H22 turbo. If you want to do this the easy way, get the Japaneese F22 DOHC. It's the same freaking engine as the h23 performance wise, but it dosen't have the janky FRM sleeves (the coated sleeves in H23 and H22 engines). If you run more than 10psi on stock FRM sleeves, there is a huge chance your Forged Pistons and Sleeves will make sweet, sweet love.

If you really want to go H23 VTEC, drop the dinero for a forged crank. I have one and I never intend to run the hybrid combo.
