ok, i just bought my first car which is a 93 civic hatchback, so i am just starting to read about all the different stuff you can do to them, because i am new to all this alot of the terminology confuses the crap out of me, so i want to know once and for all what year civics are what generations?

ps. if your bored and want to explain any other terminology, go right ahead

88-91 civic is the 4th gen (chassis code EF)

92-95 civic is the 5th gen (chassis code EG)

96-00 (01?) civic is the 6th gen (chassis code EK)

to take this a step further

5th gens also include the EH chassis
and 6th gens have the EJ's

7th gens are EP

teg's are DC
lude's are BB

Then generations are not only just body/chassis style, also, ever gen had a diffrent type of On Board Dieignostics (sp)

4thgen -OBD0
5th gen - OBD1
6th gen -OBD2

There were two styles of obd2, 96-97 was a diffrent plug style (or something small like that) than 98+

There is also the:
AL/AG/AH from 84-88
EC8 and 9 from 88-91
EE9 from 90-91 w/B16A1
EJ coupes from 94-95 as well
MA8/9 from 96-00
MB1-9 from 96-00 5 door hatchback/and aerodeck
MC1/2 aerodeck 98-
EP1/2/3 from 01- (3 is the type R)
EU from 01- (5 door hatch)
EM from 01 coupe

Gen 3 Tegs are DC, Gen 2 Tegs are DA

There's a good 200 different chassis codes. By the way did you guys know that the USDM 92-95 HB is actually an EH? Only the JDM 92-95 HB is EG6. I still call them all EG6's but, just wondered if you guys knew that.

The 92-95 EH is the four door and the 94-95 coupe is EJ1/2.And the EG is more than the EG6 in Japan and here in Germany it spans EG3/4/5/6/8/9 depending on trim level.47 chassis codes for civics since 84.

My 200 estimate is actually closer to 60. It looked a lot bigger when I saw my list.
EH2- USDM 3-Door CX/DX/VX
EH3- USDM 3-Door Si
EH6- USDM Del Sol Si (SOHC)
EH9- USDM 4-Door EX
EJ1- USDM 2-Door EX
EJ2- USDM All 2-Door EX
