OK so I finally got my B16A installed, completely wired, and everything together. I finally cranked it for the first time and a thin cloud of smoke came out of the exhaust and seemed to rise from the bottom of the engine bay. For starters the exhaust currently consists of a header and test pipe until I can get to the exhaust shop and have the rest fabricated, so could this cause the problem? other wise I was wondering whether or not it was normal for a motor that had set up for a long time to smoke when you first crank it? I have looked around for similar threads and have yet to find any so I figured I would start my own. Thanks for looking and I hope for some good help PLEASE!
it can be normal for some oil to seep past the valve seals/guides when it sits for a long time, and smoke upon startup. it should go away after a few minutes, or until it fully warms up.
