Head Dowels

I have a b16a2 and the head only has one dowel in it. Is there any other reason for them other then lining up the head on the block? Do I need them or can I just go for it and put the head on and make sure the gasket lines up? Thanks

It is to hold the head on the engine and prevent it from moving around when running. You need both of them, your gasket and headstuds alone will not suffice.

Thanks i talked to a tuning shop today and they said the same.

Yep, Honda puts the parts there for a reason.
