head swap

I'm getting ready to get a 93 dx hb...the engine shakes badly when running...almost like a cylinder is missing...The owner says that it needs a valve job...that one of the valves is bad maybe...Can I just go and get a junkyard head and put it on?

Let me clarify that a little...can I get a junkyard head and have it machined and then put it on? Is the block iron?
