and who is the one person that can stop this???
you guessed it. and all he has to say is talk about alternative fuels. Circumventing the problem does NOT SOLVE the problem. I learned that in 1st grade I think.
The President can't stop this, is the idea. The President/Congress/Legislation can stop the problem on the homefront, also known as Exxon and the other money hungry oil tycooners, but it can't stop OPEC.
The country walks on egg shells regarding the oil issue, and always has, for one reason - we rely on some of the most unreliable people over in the Middle East. If OPEC were to tell us to go shove, we'd be in finnacial ruins unless we forcefully took the oil. There's simply not a system in place that could save our oil dependent asses, if we were cut off.
The manufactured oil crisis of '78 wasn't fixed by the president in office, and I find it hard to foresee that any one president is going to get the job done and solve this problem. Its been a reoccuring problem that went away for a short while, so we let our guards down, only for it to come back and bite us.
at this rate, we'll be well past 3.50. it's practically already there in Cali.
I see this happening as well, but who cares...its California.
If it wasn't for the tree huggers in Cali and their retarded legislation, maybe they wouldn't have legitamately bankrupted two of the largest power companies in the ENTIRE WORLD. California is lucky it even still has an economy, given its HORRIBLE legislative decisions in the past.
I use shell fuel. and there's an exxon right next door to where i gas up that has cheaper prices on both gas and smokes.... and i STILL go to the shell station instead. I totally agree with you.
Since I was little, my father instilled this mindset into me, mainly because of the position Exxon took during the Valdez incident. It wasn't until I started researching Exxon that I learned that its the company of the devil, scum of the earth. ...yet people focus in on companies like Halburton and Enron and Exxon goes on unnoticed - its bullshit. I'm 100% positive that Exxon colludes with other oil companies to fix prices and lines the pockets of any politician willing - regardless of party. They've proven time and time again that they defy all the rules and laws. A simple google search will bring you a cubic fuckton of all their infractions in recent years.
and once again, if there's anyone who CAN break them up.... It's Bush.
He can't break them up, thats not his branch of government. The judiciary branch would have to decide its time to put a stop to this nonsense and break them up. We all saw what happened with Microsoft, they were found guilty and supposed to be broken up and then the judge who decided this was thrown off the case and Microsoft received a gift from god - a slap on the wrist and nothing more.
Talk about lining people's pockets.
