damn, i spent 25 minutes reading the first page before i realized it was 6 months old.

the truth of the deal is, Americans like to get fucked. if we didn't we would do something about it. the day that 80% of eligible americans vote is the day i dance a jig naked on the white house lawn.

people wont do anything other than bitch and complain. when they see something they think is wrong, they keep quiet. they don't give any input, they just say, "i told you so." it will never change. nobody will do anything about it.

I read online that soon our country will be ran by people who grew up on grand theft auto and shit like that. if we ever are to see a change in society it will come from us. we are the only people who can change anything. we need to finally get fed up with having a shit ass society so that we will finally act on it.

i'm not going to hold my breath.i'm going along for the ride and i'm going to play the game. when i get enough money, i'm buying a beach house in thailand and never coming back.

What ?

I can't believe I actually wasted my time on the entire first page of this thread.

To recap - gas companies recorded the highest profits EVER, last year. They made more in one year, than thousands of Americans will ever make in a lifetime, and more than thousands of other businesses will ever make in a lifetime. I'm no socialist or commie bastard, but does this seem appropriate that one company can make 30 FUCKING BILLION, YES THIRTY FUCKING BILLION in profits and government and furthermore, the people themselves, tolerate that?

Break that up, just like Standard Oil was broken up. Exxon, Standard Oil's bastard step son, needs to be broke up now.

I'm all for a business to make a profit, I am not however, all for a business to price gouge and take advantage of people because of a monopoly on a neccesity. (For arguments sake, its not actually a monopoly on oil - more like an oligoply with a high concentration ratio of the top sellers - but I'm just generalizing here.)

On another note, Stariebellie, I'm not sure if you were insinuating that gas stations are making a killing on gas prices because they know if they raise the prices someone will pay. The fact is, its not the gas stations, they're making virtually the same amount of money. Its the oil companies who are seeking to profit in this bullshit business venture.

E, there will be government sanctions and outright war before the world's oil is gone. Its not just going to sit in the earth if we don't have another source of energy, it will be drilled out whether its forcefully or not. If it came down to it, Mad Max style, and being the big bully we are, we would simply conquer another nation we don't give a shit about - read: the middle east - and take their oil before we let our own economy and people suffer.

Before gas prices get to $5.00 a gallon, rest assured, the government will step in. If they don't, there's going to be some major shit happening. I don't foresee gas going that much higher, because oil companies are going to have to start walking on egg shells for fear of being broken apart and being raped by regulations - if they try to be greedy business men and push the envelope too far, then they're going to become the next "public utility companies" and have big brother on their backs. I foresee gas prices spiking to about $3.50-$3.75 in my neck of the woods and then going back down to around $3.00 and sticking there. People will be so relieved that the price went back down, that they won't even realize that we're still getting fucked blind and oil company profits are now a cubic fuckton squared. The oil company pulled this shit during Katrina, and then afterwards pausing as gas went back down to $2.00 a gallon in preparation to raise the price yet again. Its just mind games that they're playing with uneducated citizens, they count on this fact. They count on the people saying yay, gas is only $3.00 a gallon now after it comes down from $4.00 a gallon, and they pray on people saying, "Look our gas is still so much cheaper than Europe, it can be so much worse!" when in reality they're raking in an absurd amount of money. Absolutely fucking absurd. This is beyond normal profits, beyond economic profits, and out into infinite profits.

I agree. It's kinda like wal-mart. You don't need to charge a lot to make a big profit because of how much in volume is sold. I need a new job.

And what you're doing is bitching and complaining and not doing anything about it.

i'm bitching and complaining about the people who bitch and complain and don't do anything about it. I am under the theory, "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em." i'm gonna play the game and go along until i can retire and go somewhere peaceful.

I have a friend, and now uncle, who came here from Thailand as a kid. He escaped prison and ran for the border and continued a westward trek for America.

He was placed in jail for a painting that he did. If you are an avid sports fan you may know him as Tom Chootesa, or his original name Pitchipol Chootesa. He does artwork for Sports Illustrated.

After being in the country for a year, he reproduced the painting that got him sentenced to jail. It was a pile of bodies, covered with puke and shit - naked. It was a scene that he saw a few weeks before in a conflict where rebels were killed in his town. He said that the rivers smelled like shit and piss because they were open cesspools, and dead bodies continually washed up or down the river. Kids were hired to carry rifles for the rebels, and when they were killed they had their clothes taken and were left to rot in the sun. Babies were delivered by american doctors and the mothers would discard them on the way home in the bushes and keep the American blankets and medical supplies for later sale.

Tell Thailand that Pitchipol says "hi" too.

how the hell can I drive my car if the oil runs out. . . you cant make a sweet ass car with out fule. . . son of a bitch. . . I like the smell of raw gas that my car dispences. .

imo were not running out of oil yet. . . this is a mass conspericay from the government. . there testing the population to see if were going to rise up in the wake of, post fosil fules. . or if we are going to revolt. . all I can see in our future is the weak will die off, and the ones who have basic life skills and knoladge will survive, most people are too fucking lazy to even cook, how are they going to survive if they cant plant a garden and grown there own food. .

all I can see in our future is about 2015 were going to hit the "mad max" era were mass looting and violence will encue, then about 2030 the people who survive will have to live off of the land, almost like after the black plauge. . im not too sure were im getting with this post. . . but damn it. . . I like to drive my gas burrning car! lets just junk all other cars and reprduce lightweight fule efficent cars again. . . why are car comanies reverting back to stone age ideas will all there "retro-muscle" cars???? I know that im not going to own a 5k lb dodge charger with a 7L hemi engne. . thats stupid. . . I can build a 1500lb civic thats twice as fast and great on gas. . .

idk just some thoughts. . even if they dont make sence ~joe~

Honda owners are in on a little secret that most on the road simply don't know. They are getting these cars after years of owning SUVs that got 20 mpg. So when they check out the Hemi Charger (Like I did) they'll see "up to 29 mpg!" and then hear about the 4-8 transitional motors that kill off cylinders. That's bullshit. That system doesn't work. So if the car is in free-fall it may get 29 mpg.

It's all a lie. Even the Dodge Caliber. Same thing - too much weight, and then they back up their gas figures with this magical DOT/EPA math that states 29 mpg out of their 1.8 liter 5speed with no options and downhill.

Ignorant people.

Anyway you fear the loss of your gasoline car - don't. Many people thought that unleaded gas would suck too (It lowers the compression ratios! Where is all of our horsepower going to go?) Well, it came back. Just the same - you're going to go to an alternative fuel but you need to remember that we're in the earlier stages of this development. Every year will release faster and faster cars that use less and less fuels. Don't fear the change, embrace it.

Then, who knows when you're 40 there may be no more cars at all. You may be very bored with cars when you, instead, have a barn-stormer in the shed.

price of crude oil has gone up more then a dollar per barrell so far today.

meanwhile the king of saudi arabia has cut gas prices in saudi by 25%. they now pay a staggering .65 cents per gallon.
