NOTE: cliffnotes are at the bottom.
I just wanted to share my experience with everyone. I ordered a clutch from NOPI.com cuz they had a fairly low price and I figured that it was a reputable company considering they got their own magazine, TV show, races, etc...
Anyway, I ordered a clutch from them on the web and when I called them like 2 days later to check the status they said that the order was barely getting put into the system. I was a little frustrated that it took them 2 days to even put the order in but I calmed down and I asked him when it would be shipped. The rep told me it will be shipped tomorrow.
I called them back later the next day to make sure it was shipped. The rep told me that it had been shipped so I asked for the tracking number since it was coming UPS. The rep said that he couldn't give me the tracking number, something about it being against their company policy. I told him that I had ordered many parts from different companies and everyone else was more than willing to give me the tracking number for the part I ordered. After I saw that I couldn't get anywhere with him I hung up and called back to speak to a different rep and/or a manager. When I started speaking to the other rep he asked me what my order number was and after he looked it up he transferred me to the same rep I had been talking to because he had processed my order.
I said fuk it, I hung up again and called back the next day, this time I got connected to a manager. I started speaking to him about my problem and he put me on hold and transferred me to that same rep again. I started talking to him again and tried again to get a tracking number once again. No luck again, what a surprise.
It had been a week now that I had ordered the clutch. I couldn't get those assholes to give me the tracking number or an e.t.a
WTF kind of company does some stupid shit like that.
I called a few days later and finally I started going off on that same rep and I insisted that he either give me the tracking numebr or track himself and tell me where the package is and when it's going to get delivered. He tracked the package and he told me that according to the UPS log it had been shipped at like 4:30pm the day before. I got real pissed cuz like a week ago this asshole had told me it had been shipped already.
I told him off a little, I said fuk your company and hung up.
I finally got the clutch yesterday. I was excited that it finally got here. I opened the package up and what do you know. These fuks sent me the wrong one. They sent me a fukin 4-puck metallic race clutch made for a boosted or highly modified n/a application. I had ordered a full disc street clutch for near stock cars.
I was heated as hell yesterday. I called them up and gave them a piece of my mind for fukin up the order. I don't want to send it back cuz it'll take them 6-8 weeks to refund my money so this means I will be without a clutch for another 2 months. I'm thinking about just using the clutch they sent cuz my clutch is slipping and I want to replace it already. I was thinking about selling it ebay or recycler.com or the partstrader.com and buying another one but no one will pay me what I paid for it.
I ordered a full disc street clutch from NOPI.com.
They didn't process the order for like 2-3 days.
I called 3 days after placing order to check status.
They said it had been shipped already but refused to give me the tracking number.
Abot a week goes by, I call back and find out it had barely been shipped a day earlier.
I scream and yell at them.
I receive the clutch 5 days later.
They sent me the wrong clutch, they send a 4-puck race clutch for boosted applications.
I called them back and went off again.
I'm stuck with a race clutch unless I feel like putting up with their hell again.
UPDATE 10/01/03 2:31pm PST
They called me back and the rep on the other end is claiming that it is not their fault and it is the fault of the manufacturer. I was very calm and reasonable when I spoke to him, I asked him if there was any way for me to contact the company directly. He wouldn’t give me the number but he took my number and had the manufacturer rep call me.
I just got off of the phone with the rep from CC Competition Clutch and he is claiming that I will be fine because the full disk clutch and the one they sent me are about the same.
I explained to him that I looked at their catalog and they have sent me a freakin clutch meant for a high boost application. The exact description of what it says is
“STRIP Series Clutch - 4cyl 1.6L DOHC - for serious enthusiast with considerable modifications, large turbo/supercharger with internal engine modifications and/or excessive nitrous - includes performance pressure plate, performance disc with 4-pad ceramic disc on sprung hub, bearings and alignment tool - 200-250% torque capacity increase”
He wanted me to describe to him the material of the clutch pads. I told him that I didn’t have the clutch in front of me but I know which one it was. It seemed like he didn’t want to hear what I had to say and he was adamant about me calling him once I have the clutch in my hands.
So far I am not a happy camper. If the situation doesn’t turn around very very soon I will have to take measures up a notch. I wonder if the guys on Honda-Tech.com, Ephatch.com, 7thGenCivic.com, and all the other forums would like to hear about how NOPI treats their customers. I don’t think it will be good for business.
If somehow someway they get a hold of this thread they can just email me, check my profile.
UPDATE 10/01/03 3:21pm PST
Now I just got off the phone with the rep from NOPI. He is definitely trying to control the situation now. I told him about my talk with CC Competition and it sounds like he is willing to offer a resolution to my problem. If they come through and do right by me I will definitely be a happy customer but we'll have to wait and see. The rep from NOPI called me back again and it seemed like he was offering me a solution. I will be getting back to him on his offer.
UPDATE 10/02/03 10:52am PST
ok, Chris from Competition Clutch called me last night and we talked for a little bit. He offered to OverNight me the correct clutch today. I sent him an email reminding him of it and hopefully it will be shipped and I should have it tomorrow morning. He gave me his word that I will have it by Friday. If I don't have it by Friday morning I'm going to get extremely upset. I'm putting some trust in the hands of Competition Clutch and NOPI so they will hopefully come through on their promises. I will keep everyone updated on this longwinded situation.
