oil suggestions

I just put in some 5w30 quakerstate advanced sythetic motor oil and my vtec is not kicking in. I was just wanting to get some suggestions on what motor oil I should use. Thanks

did you put 4qts......what car and obd is it......i dont think that the type of oil will make vtec not kick in

I put in the correct amount in and the car is a 94 civic ex with a d16z6 and it is obd 1. There is no check engine light. It start after about 500 miles after I put the oil in. I remeber reading some where that synthetic may not enough umph to kick in vtec.
