Please explain...

I just uploaded some pics from my camera to my computer and I can't seem to understand why (at least to me) the image on my tv looks more real/clear than the actual picture.

maybe its because the pic is over exposed and the TV has the right lighting?

Too close for flash, its just washing out the background and yes making it over exposed where the camera got its light source from the background.
