radar detectors

hey guys, don't know where to post this so i post it here. if it's in the wrong place please help move this forum. ok, I plan to get a radar detector but i don't really know which one i should get or which one out there has the best tech stuff for its worth. does anyone have any experiences with the "escort" radar detectors.

Escort Passport 8500 , 350ish, numero dos

I have an Escort Passport 7500, for 300, and I love it. I've detected radar from behind a building before I could even see the cop.

i currently have the escort "passport 8500" and it is amazing through the k band. The only problem I have noticed with this model is that it doesn't seem to pick up laser until your tagged although i have only came in contact with lasers a few times and never ticketed. Like i said through the k band the range is amazing. The only other model to consider is the valentine which is said to be a little better and also a hundred more. i say buy the escort simply for the convience options that are offered.

2slow you won't pick up laser until you ARE tagged. it's not like radar where they turn it on and point it at you giving you time to detect it and slow down, no...they turn it on when you're close enough to tag you then you're dead.

Most police stations around the country can't afford/don't need a laser gun tho. The ONLY place I've been hit with laser is the Indy airport.

Im going to be getting a passport 8500, ive read alot of reviews b/w the valentine1 and the 8500 and the valentine sends up alot of false alerts in city's. Also, you can get a 8500 for around 250 on ebay, some even cheaper.

the new 8500 passport scores higher than valentine one on almost all of the sites i have seen. the sites could have a deal with them but still they are pretty good.

Mine was about 290 after a 30 dollar warrenty addon.

I have an 8500, and it throws a lot of false warnings, mostly from K band doors at CVS/Walgreens... it'll always go off at the same places, so I can pretty much tell when to ignore it.

and then you are fucked when a cop decides to throw up a speed trap right near that shoping center and you dont have a counter or arrows to tell you how many hits there are or what direction the hits are comming from

ill take the arrows and the counter for the extra $100... ive seen the V1 in action ... dont own it yet ... but it is the only detector i would ever think about owning

Not really, because doors don't PEG the radar detector at full blast, if it gets to full bar I'll know it's not the door. There's only 2 places in town that use K band, the CVS and Walgreens doors, the liquor store on Lincoln Highway uses X band and pegs, but cops have no where to sit there.

New Haven cops RARELY use K band anyway, one uses X band every now and then and the rest use Ka.
