sure did...i did it all the safe way...i took it to a buddy's shop and had it done.Please tell me that you had the system purged before you 'got red of a/c'.
why? it's a 99, so it's got r134a, not r12. r134 is not harmful to the atmosphere, and is non-toxic unless exposed to an open flame (which unless you're smoking while purging it, or purging in a confined area like your garage, wont hurt anything.) if you have a gas powered hot water heater in your garage you could run into trouble, but the stigma with refrigerant stems from r12, not r134a.
it's not harmful to you or the atmosphere if you go about it safely (and yes, the responsible thing to do it have it evacuated correctly.)
