FINALLY going to finish them tonight.

i hope so. in the time its taken for you to sand and paint these four wheels, i've sanded and repaired 2 fenders, a hood, and a busted as fuck front bumper!

And I had to strip the paint off them first, which took over a week. Jerk.

Looks like I have to wetsand again, after taking a flashlight and looking at the surfaces, it's not quite right yet.


I'm about to say fuck it, just lay one last coat, and then be happy with the finished product.

if you want it smooth as glass you're gonna have to wetsand and buff

Yeah, fuck it. I just got them into the sun while clear coating the backs, and HOLY SHIT. They look good and the color looks deep.

Fuck a little surface wrinkle.

Finishing the back's clear coat today, then gonna wait for it to cure so I can get the tires mounted. Thinking Thursday for tires? Is that sane?

Also, is it safe to assume that the paint won't chip up when I get the tires mounted because I've painted the entire lip and bead seat?

If they mount them properly they should barely even touch the viewable surface and even then only with rubber. What profile tires are you using? Hopefully they're not too low. They're harder to mount.

I've got some 205/55/16 Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Spec tires going on them.

I love the star specs. I picked up this set for $200 from a fellow autocrosser. He was selling them because he wanted r-comps.

FInally finished with the clear coat. Now it's time to let them cure.

Last pic is kinda funky, it doesn't have that spot on the spoke IRL.
