I'm trying to put a short shifter into my 99 civic si and I cant figure out how the switch would work aside from taking apart the tranny. Any tips/guides on how to access the shift rod?
taking apart the tranny? whoa! where are you trying to stick that thing? if i were you id pay someone 2x what you paid for that scrap of metal so you dont fuck anything up.
wait, paying someone to install something for you isnt gonna save your car.
You take apart the shift linkage, which connects to the transmission, and remove the old one. But yes, it sounds like you sould pay someone to do it, lol.
1- jack up your car and place on jack stands
2- get underneath car and follow the shift linkage from the tranny back
*NOTE*-make sure your car is not warmed up or else you risk burning yourslef when you try to tamper with the shifter
3- unscrew the bolt that holds the shifter to the linkage.
4- find the 2 bolts that hold the shift linkage to the body and unscrew them
5- pull everything apart and change out the shifter
6- put everything back the way it was.
