What the benefits of increasing say a 1.8l to a 2.2l. I plan on running boost and someone did tell me stick with your 1.8, dont go up to a 2.2, but i have no idea why..sorry for asking so many newbie questions...
it is nearly impossible to hit 2.2L out of a bseires and still have sleeve strnegth. it requires an 85 or 86mm bore and a long ass stroke. larger bore = thinner sleeve material = more prone to break under boost.
More displacement is generally better for more power, but stock or close to stock geometry is preferable on high power B block applications. Stroke it out much and you start dropping your redline- unless you get into custom rod lengths and deck heights. Then you're talking $$$.
