Rest In Peace
so a couple of weeks ago I went out car shoping with my roommate and saw a 00 civic si w/ jrsc. well I told the guy I wanted to sell my crx first so I could have a good down payment. later that day I called him to tell him I posted my car up on the forums, he told me he would have to call me back cause he was on another call. never called, so I decieded not to sell my car.

two weeks later he calls me and tells me "what do I got to do to earn your business" I told him "you dont want my business, your were suppose to call me back and here it is two weeks later and your finally calling me". he asked if I had sold my car and I told him I didnt and probily wont. he told me that if I did to call him.

so later that week I got an email form this kid in denver asking me to reconsider selling my car. he wanted it bad and had the cash. so I wrote him and gave him my phone # if he was serious about my car. in the mean time I have been  over tbones civic si.

so weds after i picked up my fat 5's on my way home I get this call. its from the kidkid that wants to buy my crx dad. and he starts talking to me about my car and waned to know when would be a good time to come see it, I pointed him to this forum :worthy: and had him look at my for sale post of my car.

so we talk alittle about his kid and why he wants my car. and I tell him about everything I have done to my car. I told him that I wasnt selling my car unless the honda dealership had the civic si I had looked at. he told me to call him when I find out what i decieded.

so i call the guy i was dealing with at honda, he starts to tell me about the civic si and his phone cuts off. I tried to call him back and got no answer. so i call honda and talk to a different guy. he tell me that thecar was sold but that he could get me another one buy this weekend. i tell him about the the other guy i was dealing with and how he never called me back, he tells me " i will call you back" i say ok you have untill sat. i also told him that if he cant find one that there was one that i wanted (tbones). but that it was in a different state and that i would be happy to get that car and drive it to colorado. and that all they would have to do is the financing part I would get the car, they didnt even have to find it. the guy then tells me yea we could do that.

so this moring the first guy i was dealing with calls me and tell me that they just took in a civic si in on trade and that it had my name oall oner it and that i need to check it out. so i go up there and and look at the car and the guy is busy with customers and finally after sitting there for 1/2 hour he finally comes up to me and he's all theres the car, i say is it unlocked hes stands there and says no why, well i would like to check it out thats why.

he tells me well its all stock no upgrades. so i ask him how much and he tells me 11000. so i tell him about tbones civic and he says why whould you want a car from a different state when the same one is right here.
SAME ONE i dont think so, so i tell him all that is done to car and that its only 1000 more that the one they have. he then tell me well we cant get you a car from a different state. bullshit i tell him thats how my roommate got his nsx. he tells me well if we did that it would cost you extra. "OK how much more" he tells me around 2000 more. ok then lets get this done.
he all shocked and tells me I cant do that, whay would you spend a extra to get a car from a different state, I tell him well if you did all the work to the civic that is done to tbones civic it would cost around another 10000. thats why i would pay 2000 extra for his car over the one sitting in front of me.

he tell me well sell your car first then we can do business. i tell him hell no i'm not selling my car first untill forsure you can get me tbones civic. I am not going to be with out a car just to hear him say "oh we cant get you that car but we have one here you can get.

plus he tells me that well I have to see if I can get you financed for more money and today is saturday so i have to get with the banks on monday. i tell him well 3 weeks ago you want me to drive away with a supercharged civic si that you want to sell me for 15000, and you want me to buy this bone stock civic si for 11000, but you can tell me if you can get me the one car I WANT for around 14000. I tell him well maybe I need to find someone who can get me the car I want. I start to walk away and he tells me give me till monday I'm sure we can work something out.

that just pisses me off that he wants to sell me something i dont want instead of helping get something that I do want. plus he didnt do anything, shit he didnt find the car, I did its posted on here, plus he doesnt have to go get it I am willing to jump on a plane see everyone up there in the areas and drive the car back to colorado.

sorry this was long. I am just pissed and needed to vent

Umm...He's in retail.

He wants to sell you the car that will get him the most commission....

And, since you seem to know already, but just underlining it, financing through your own bank, or like a credit union, you will get much better financing, unless you have seriously awesome credit and you can qualify for a 5.9 inhouse on a used like my old man does.

The dealer isn't being stupid. Money talks- they get TONS of "dreamers" in there wanting to buy cars. They're not going to hold a vehicle for you unless you put some kind of deposit down on it. It doesn't matter if you say you're going to sell your CRX or not- they don't care, and they shouldn't. If the dealer held cars for people just based on their verbal promise of "I'll buy it if it's here when I'm done selling my CRX" then they would never sell a damn thing.

That's true, I mean, if he tells you he'll get you the Si from Colorado or whatever, and you don't comethrough, he is ass out.

dreamer nothing. when we went to the dealership my roommate was looking at the s2000, i saw the supercharged si and walked over to it and the guy walked away from my roommate and started to hound me "what do i got to do for you to take this car home" i told him i wasnt even looking and he gets the keys and wants to test drive it and trys to push the car on me, he wanted me to drive it home that day, but i told him that IF i was going to get into another car I would have to sell my crx first so i could have a nice down payment. but that i wasnt planing on selling my crx at all. later that day i thought about the civic and posted my crx for sale just to see if i could sell it, then i called the guy at the dealership to tell him i posted the car up for sale and that if it sold I would get a hold of him to get into a different car. he told me that the car will sell quick. so i dont care if someone else buys it no big deal there are plenty of si out there.

so today they guy calls me up and tell me that they have another si that they got in trade and that i needed to check it out. but when i get there he doesnt really want to show me the car, cause he knows its bone stock and that when i tell him about the other one and that if they sell the one they have now it wouldnt bother me cause i knew of another one. i think he is upset cause i didnt buy his civic today and that he know if they sell it it doesnt matter to me cause i know that i can always find another one, even if tbone sells his, there will always be one somewhere out there.
i was tring to get the dealer to understand that IF i am going to bay a civic si its going to beone that i pick not one he picks and if he cant help me then there is always some one how will.

anyways I taked to my roommate this afternoon and told him what they said at honda and he tells me to call his buddy that got him into his nsx. so i call him at he does have any problem with helping me get into a car from a different state. so monday i am going to get as much information about tbones civic as i can get and give it to him and he is going to see what he can do and then if all goes well then i will sell my crx to the guy in denver. and my point is this wheni told the guy at honda today if he couldnt help me get into tbones civic then i would find a dealership that could. and I did just that

Yup. He has to spend about $500 to move the car. Most dealerships will want you to pay that up front whether or not you're actually going to buy the car.

when i told him about the civic he told me it was going to cost me 2-3 grand extra to get tbones civic, plus he didnt have to do anything i told him i would fly out to pick it up they dont have to move it here.

hell he wants my business so bad then hell either try to sell me the stock si or charge me the 3 grand extra for the civic in a different state, but today when i went up there he didnt even try to sell me the si. we was to busy to even pop the hood. hell my crx being sold is a for sure thing i just have to give to guy in denver the "ok i am selling the car" hes waiting on me to see what the dealer can do for me. and all i want is for the dealer to say heres the bottom line on a car.
but i am also in the state of mind is why would i pay 11000 for a bone stock si when i can get one that is totally built for a few grand more.

if a dealer ever asked me "what do i got to do for you to take this car home" i would leave on the spot.

fuck that.

that is the WROST sales tactic there is, ahnds down.

and why are you trying to get finacning through a dealer? go to a bank, or a credit union.

Plus your bank isn't gonna charge you money to get a car from out of state. Finance through the bank, sell your car, buy the other car, drive it back and be happy. Dealerships always are more expensive, and most of the time, the sales people just want to make a sale.

I went to a Honda dealership one day in my '92 accord wagon, pulled up front and parked, there was three guys standing out front, and one walked over and was like next to my door before I could even get out and was like "can I help you find something today?" and I was like "yeah I just need to get a key made" and he was like 'Follow me!" and I was like "ok".. I mean, all he had to do was stand there, I could have walked in and gone to the parts department myself. But he thought I might be looking to buy or something so he comes over and then walks me to the parts department like I need an escort through the dealership. That is how much they want to sell it to you.

Personally that sounds like good service. Was that Vandergriff Honda?

Dont get me wrong, there are plenty of dealerships that are out to just plain SELL YOU, but i have seen the occassional one with decent salespeople. If you live in Louisiana i PITTY YOU. Don Bohn (with the exception of Bohn Brothers Toyota) is probably the WORST when it comes to pressure sales. But their numbers are high so who can blame them.

Really good dealerships to check out........Damn only one that sells Honda's. Kin Dixon Honda in Waldorf MD.

I work for about 200 different car dealerships and Kin Dixon is amazing, great Service Department (although prices are high, duh, dealership) and even better sales people.

In Dallas-Fort Wort, definitely check out Freeman Toyota. Insanely great Sales People. You can tell they want to sell you a car, but I have heard time and time again. "He wanted to sell me a car, but he wanted to sell me the car I WANTED." Freeman Toyota's got some good people.

Don Ringler in Temple is pretty friggin amazing too. They are extremely low pressure and have 50%+ female sales staff, and these women KNOW THEIR SHIT.

Foreign Cars Italia in Charolette and Greensbro are pretty good, but most likely out of our range.

Im probably missing a few, but the ones i think im missing are Licoln Mercury dealers....not exactly import.
