time for a new project

hey I am just wondering if there are any issues or special considerations if I were to boost a d16 and live in a cold weather prone area (WI). I haven't seen any so far but just thought that I would ask. Also please don't flame about the D series, I know there are other engines out there but I have always wondered what could be done with this powerplant.

go for it. when i first got my civic i was going to turbo it. but now im lookin to get anoter d series. he only thing you need to worry about is fuel man and milage of motor. othere than that u can easaly hit 180+ on a stock d. check out homemadeturbo.com and read the faq

The cold will affect a turbo engine the same way it would affect a non-turbo engine. Colder air = higher oxygen density = more power. That's about it.

Is that all? I was thinking more about mechanically. like on start up or lubrication that sort of thing. I know that if I leave my car out all night it feels "stiff".

well, obviously, you're going to want to let it get to operating temp before you start bossting...

I got a d16z6 and want to boost it as well.what kind of turbo are you using? Im shopping around and want to be well informed before i spent all that money.

how much did you spend for the setup(turbo,intercooler,pipes,BV etc.. Also the installation price if you had a pro do it.

well its still a project in the works....right now for the turbo $200, IC(probe) $40, FMU $75, BOV(1gen dsm) for $40. Piping is undetermined but i am getting it from kteller.com.....and i have all the flanges needed.

No problem. Actually add a stage three clutchnet 6 puck with heavy duty pressure plate and a ACT prolite flywheel to the list Just picked that up about 30 mins ago...sweet deal too!

I got the clutch with the prolite and a dashboard and other stuff for ~$300
