I was really good at CAD in high school. Maybe it's something I should look into.

I worked 40+ hours a week and still made it through a top 10 engineering school. Most of my classmates had jobs of some sort. Fortunately, my job was IN the mechanical engineering building, so I'd guess that it was probably equivalent to a 20 hour job somewhere else in terms of the impact it had on my studies. It's nice being able to use your office as a study area and locker, as well as a place to hang your suit for interviews.

IDK, I know Rowan's engineering program is also really good. I'm just speaking from what I personally saw.

However I lived like a college student, eating ramen and bud light.

Bud Light? College living for me was Keystone, Natural, PBR, and Traveler's Club. Still plenty of Ramen though.

Oh, and McDonalds 0.39 cheeseburgers on Sundays. I'd buy enough to last almost a week. Not sure they still have that deal? lol

Yeah, all experiences will vary- quite a few didn't have jobs at all. Most of us wanted some extra spending money though- study hard, work hard, play hard! Gotta have money to play though.

Bleah. Buy your ramen from the Asian market- get stuff imported from Taiwan and Japan, not that supermarket junk.

I hate to support it as much as anyone else, but look into warehouse jobs at your local walmart. If you can drive a tow motor you're even better off. Pay (around here) starts at 16.50/hr full time benefits and you typically work 33/week, 3 days a week. Its tough, but its a great opportunity if you can go back to school mon-thurs.

Look at government jobs. Local, State, Federal. Good stable pay -- as long as you play the game right.

I have almost three years into my Federal Job, and I'm doing pretty well. I don't have much cash to spare after everything, but I have enough discretionary income that I can live rather comfortably. My biggest expense besides housing (I pay about $750/mo all said and done) is my car. I wish I would have put more money down on it.

People I work with live off much less than I make, I don't understand how they do. I make almost the mean income for where I live.

While I was going to school, I worked a night Custodian job for my local school district and then picked up a higher paying night custodian job for the city working at City Hall. Pay for the school district was $13.50 an hour and pay for the city was $17.11 an hour. These were part time gigs as well. Full timers made a little more per hour plus benefits.

The only reason I didn't work full time was because I had 2 kids at that time. By the time I finished school, I had my 3rd child.

These jobs aren't beneath you. You just have to be willing to do it.

I might add though, I had financial help from family during a few rocky moments. Sucks your Dad isn't willing to help you. I also had a car pool to school. I only paid $25 a week in gas for school. School was an hour away and with Gas prices in Cali, that was a life saver.
