Saying things like "there wasn't enough security" are fairly idiotic.
Sure, metal detectors to classrooms yet the huge inconvenience that everyone will bitch about and slow down the efficiency of the school. The added costs of beefed up security, the time and effort put into it, and what will it stop? Possibly a kid from walking into the building.
Its like terroristic attacks, they're unpredictable and something that can't just be stopped at the drop of a hat.
You'll be a millionaire if you can devise a way to see inside people's heads, see that writing on the wall, and predict and stop attacks. Until you can do that, saying this happened because of negligence on the school's part is fairly out there. No one could have predicted or protected, unless there was a prior threat issued.

Yeah unless the bomb threats that are being reported that happend a couple of weeks ago are related there is really not a whole lot that could have been done. I guess we will see when the actually the timeline comes out.

I am willing to bet that there are alot of rumors flying around campus right now. I don't know if I believe that there were multiple shooters or a bomb. I guess we will have to wait and see.

Now this sounds more like it. I remember when this started this morning, the BBC was called first. They were told there was (phrased from BBC) "An Asian student". (Forums)
Then the Police declared that the east and west sides both had shootings reported (2 gunmen)(CNN)
Then someone leaked something about Pakistani exchange students, but it was understood to be the victims (Fox news)
The body count has GOT to be higher than reported. It's gone up 10 kills since I wrote that little blurb (I would be able to get that many in a few hours)
The SWAT teams were posted behind cars, not trying to actively get to the students and protect them (Common tactics for bomb threats and hostage situations) for 2 hours.
2 reports have been cut off while a student witness tried to describe the shooter.
I fully believe this is a Muslim attack. We'll play the name game when the news is released.
interesting to note i drove by WVU yesterday afternoon.
